It has English as well, it skips one with each day change so whatever you choose when you set the time is what it'll continue to show. Probably obvious to Seiko heads but a surprise to me.

Yeah they always have two languages, English as the first and the second language varies according to the market (French, Spanish etc), that’s the only turtle that has kanji though, as far as I’m aware. The international market “made in Japan” ones usually have Arabic as the second language.

Evening all. Quick question - I quite like the look of this watch and it is £18 posted. Why is it cheap?

Because they are ten a penny?
I got a cheap Seiko from eBay a year or two ago - similar money. Works well enough though I'm not so keen on the shape anymore.

Thanks.

This is the one.
If anyone wants it, can be yours for a donation of a beer to the forum. Works and holds time as far as I can tell to a reasonable degree (prob only wore it for 2-3 days at a time and didn't adjust until i next put on), the glass is plastic and has by the looks of it popped out and been glued back in. -

I reckon there are a lot of people who buy them up in job lots, stick a new cheap strap on them and can still make decent return at that price.

While I'm looking at my watches...
Picked this up for £2 about 12 years ago. Its strange because although very dirty and heavily marked the dial looks to be very good quality, the batons are really crisp in particular bit other things are off like the omega character on the crown is worn down so as to be almost invisible and the bracelet is def aftermarket. Anyone know anything about cocktail watches got an opinion on this one?

Thanks (again). I’m still surprised by the price. Your reasoning is probably sound.
Your Seiko is quite nice too. -

It’s that cheap because it’s a fake. The logo is wrong.

And 12 is crooked

That makes more sense. Thanks

Got burgled this week - thankfully they didn't get away with much, but they did take my PRS-18Q, the fuckers, and Timefactors is out of stock :(

If it's from India it's scrapped together from a lot of bits of other watches.

Would a 'vintage' Omega, very similar to this model be worth anything of note now to anyone?
-
• #35393
I think it’s Hong Kong or China. Probably a similar situation.

• #35394
Yeah it’s most likely a bitsa. Salmonchild’s too (the logo doesn’t look right on that one either). It’s actually not unusual for them to have Seiko movements inside (whether they’re salvaged, factory rejects, quartz or genuine new stock - depends on the price but Seiko supplies a lot of cheap movements and it can be profitable to turn out fake Seikos using their own movements).

I bought this Seiko a few weeks ago off Reddit but unfortunately its got a problem with intermittent condensation. It was missing the battery seal which I've replaced with one but don't think its the correct one.
I was also advised there are a couple of more seals which could need replacing - anybody know of somewhere I could send it to be checked over?

I had a condensation problem inside my Hamilton Khaki but considerably worse than yours. I left it in a tupperware container, immersed in rice, crown open, for three to four days.
It cured the issue I was having completely. It may be the seals but I think it may be a trace amount of moisture inside the case as well. Could be worth a punt before outlaying further. Take the strap off first if doing the rice method as it will dehydrate and slightly shrink the leather.

Personally I'd buy some dessicant sachets on eBay and do the same. Rice dust can get into the movement.

Should be able to buy a few handfuls of them for a couple of quid if you're lucky.

Just don’t be tempted to eat them.
I have no need since I have a gilt dial one but I really want one of those. The kanji date somehow makes it ten times cooler.
