What time is it? Watches and horology

Still embroiled in appeals through Paypal against the seller of the Hamilton Khaki Field Day Date I bought w/ the condensation and other issues. Outlook doesn't look favourable.

Am picking up something nice on Sunday though.

Lots of variants including a "pure 24hr" if that's what you're after. Also has a kina cool authenticity.

I have a Steinhart Ocean One GMT with the black ceramic bezel and an Oris Big Crown GMT with the seconds on a subdial.

They're both nice - the Steinhart is a daily watch and the Oris I put on when I'm wearing a suit. The Oris is quite big but I like the legibility. Unfortunately there's something wrong with the power reserve though and it stops overnight - demagnetising worked initially but has stopped working.

I like the idea of the Glycines, but they're expensive and the numbers are tiny so I felt the lack of legibility made them less appealing than a GMT watch. I rather like the Breitling Navitimer 8 Unitime I posted a few pages back, but it's a lot of money for me.

Can give some advice regarding refunds. On what grounds did you request a refund - item not as described?

Well, the price of that rose very quickly.

Hard to say. I can’t remember ever seeing one in this condition, plus this is the stainless version (some were plated brass). I’d say £600 would have been a steal. The price it went for was still a great deal.

I just think it’s a superb design that watch. It has the hallmarks of a mid-40’s watch, it’s relatively large for its age, plus it has some unique JLC style features.
