I’ve seen those. Just seemed a tad pricey.

while looking at a watch for my dad, i was quite drawn to this
Laco Melbourne - just shy of £380 delivered new....
i like the dark look..... -
• #31305
Is that from a Casio Classic range or similar name?
-
• #31306
Got one of them on the shelf if anyone wants it. Well-worn but working....!

While we’re looking at gold digital watches... here’s one for the runners.
-
• #31308
That looks great, but you’d have to be ok with the black coating wearing off quite easily. Can look tatty quite quickly.
-
• #31309
Yep, I quite like the look of some of the PD Orfina, but the PVD would look shit the second you started wearing it I suspect.

Goood point
-
• #31311
Not all PVD is created equal. The good finishes are very scratch resistant but they tend to be found on pricier watches...
-
• #31312
Yeah, and the really pricey ones are ceramic. :)
PVD wearing off can be a good look in a tool watch sort of way but I don't think it usually looks very nice on bracelets.

The local watchmaker pulled a look of sympathetic despair at the scratches on my metal bezel on the flags auto.

No idea, I just googled ‘what watch did Eddie Murphy wear in Beverley Hills Cop’. Epic new page fail.
-
• #31315
Sorry. I was being lazy. It appear there is a retro collection -
-
• #31316
That ain’t Eddie Murphy. Looks like the watch though.

• #31317
Jesus, more fail.
-
• #31318
why on earth were you watching Eddie Murphy films....

Had a low ball offer for my SPB053 on Chrono24. Anyone want to save me the fees and give me £620 for it (on bracelet, rubber not included)?

Please, somebody! I can't tell you enough how nice this watch is!
@ChainBreaker You'd really like it!

Lol... I'm holding off at the moment. I've got enough divers to kit out a small platoon. Also I'd like a 'driving' not diving piece.
And got goals to reach before I spoil myself again.

I had a Rotary Daytona a few years ago (til someone at Herne Hill sent me and the watch flying), I found that style of chrono/driver really tough to read.
-
• #31323
Heh, thank you. :)
I'd also do £650 with the bracelet and the brand new unworn blue rubber strap that came with the 083 (that doesn't match the 083 at all but goes perfectly with the 053).
Actually just took it out to check the strap colours and now I'm half tempted to keep it, even though I really can't afford to at the moment. It is lovely. Someone take it off my hands…

In case anyone was interested, I meant to post this up ages ago when it was first released.
Jonathon Ward, the guy who started Icon, a company who take old 4x4s and make them very modern, for a lot of money (deep into 6 figures), made a watch. I've listened to a few podcasts with him on and he's a bit of a design and watch nerd, and sounds like he's wanted to make a watch for a long time. I quite like it, but I'm not sure if it's because I like him and his cars, or if it's actually a good design. Either way, looks like this:
