dmc i might be able to help you :-)
mirius thats a lovely selection of roamer watches. it looks like you buy them working and not. the sign of a true addict i think. sometimes when the shape is so lovely, and the price not offensive, you just have to get it. well done to you. your collection makes me smile even giggle. thanks

Well I thought it made a change from all the new watches which are posted in here, some of them very nice indeed!

Thanks CoppiThat, yes much of my collection is such that I buy when I see them. The collection above is mainly Medana from 1915 - 1935 and Roamer Sports from the thirties through to the sixties with a few other brands from Meyer & Studeli thrown in. One day they might all work, but until duplicates start showing up the condition is whatever it is.

Been eyeing this one on eBay but I won't be buying it.

pretty but you can get the shape very reasonably. older ones generally have fixed pins if thats the right term.

Very nice dmc. I have a couple like that, though none quite as nice as that.
I realised that I'd missed by Taubert & fils waterproofed cased Roamer from the early Thirties, though in this case the cork seal in the stem has failed badly so that the keyless works are rusted and damaging dial and hands. I need to find a donor calibre.
Not the prettiest watch, but interesting nonetheless at least to me :-)

Indeed it does! Lovely collection thanks for sharing Mirius. And great to see the links to others' collections on the previous page. Some really lovely watches!
I'll start snapping and post mine up, a motley collection with a little bit of everything from inexpensive and sentimental to flashy with a dash of quirky thrown in for good measure but all automatics, they must be automatic, quartz is evil!

I think this would look rather yum with a black mesh bracelet, 23 jewel automatic:
I really like this, cheap and stealthy... I may buy one today... Tho' I really need a chrono if I'm getting a new timepiece...
I'm done with expensive watches since the burglary... :[ -

I know this is nothing special but for less than £10 I really like the look of it, no doubt will have to replace the strap, but it's lovely and clean (I think).

I'm done with expensive watches since the burglary... :[Go for it Joe! And not so cheap, they retail on the high street for about £240 but you can pick them up on the bay new for about £130. And it's a reliable 23 jewel Japanese movement, silky smooth dude!
If you get one post a pic :)

OK, this is my current collection, all automatics, each with a little bit of history. The first is my Patek (not). It's a copy that I picked up in a street market in the Philippines. Managed to barter it down to about £4. It has a Chinese automatic movement, Lord knows how many jewels but think minimal. Somehow it keeps running and actually keeps good time:
This I just love the simplicity of. I got stuck in an airport for about 12 hours outside of schedule and couldn't resist. Swiss movement 25 jewels:
This was a present from an ex and my first ever automatic. I was fascinated by being able to see the movement through the glass back and the thought that every movement I made would be converted into energy to run my watch. It was this brilliantly simple idea that first attracted me to automatics and still delights me today. As you can probably tell from the scuffs and scratches it's been a reliable workhorse for many years. Japanese movement 21 jewels:
Saw this NOS on the bay and went for it, goes great with jeans. Movement as above:
A NOS Seiko Chronograph from 1971 still has the wax on the back of the case. Japanese movement 17 jewels:
This is not what it seems to be. It's a very good fake, so good it would take a jeweller or an expert with an eagle eye to tell. Japanese movement 25 jewels:
This was my grandfather's and is over 40 years old. It's much loved and keeps perfect time. Japanese movement 17 jewels:
I just liked the retro look and the simplicity of this Tissot. Swiss movement 25 jewels:
This was my reward to myself after winning a court case against my previous employer, I did all the legal work myself and they wanted to settle outside of court. Swiss movement (but invented by an English watchmaker) Co-Axial Escapement:

Very interesting collection and some nice logic to the choices. I have to admit that an automatic is what get's most of my wrist time.

Thanks gents! Forgot to say, the fake IWC as well as a solid 25 jewel Japanese movement also has sapphire glass front and back plus surgical grade stainless steel casing. Not bad for a fraction of the price ;)

If........I had another watch, the only one would be a 1968 speedmaster.
