  • As dmc says, they go up a few hundred £ each year and those steel bracelets cost £1,200 on their own, was after one for mine 'til I was quoted the price!

Get a 2nd hand one mate

  • If........I had another watch, the only one would be a 1968 speedmaster.

  • ^Had one and sold it! Fucker kept stopping. Even went to the vintage Omega store who relieved me of £400 just to look at it. Ebayed it a long time ago saying it needed a service. Must've been either a lemon or a Friday afternoon watch.

Pisti, did you buy yours a) new or second hand? and b) With a kevlar strap or pick it up after?

  • Consider pre-owned and get your dream watch sooner and cheaper.

Get a 2nd hand one mate

    Without a doubt.

    Brand new, US eBay

Bought the strap afterwards, about 6 months ago from the IWC desk @ Selfridges, £170. Wanna get a deployment clasp next but they're about £400 and I've got more important things to worry about at the mo

  • Nice touch on a superb watch! ;-)

That matey might've been in the SAS? I LOVE the SAS

  • You would feel a right nugget with that on the back. It'd ruin it for me. There is one further down the listings for £2200 with a kevlar strap that is quite good value. The only thing I'd worry about would be authenticity / getting shafted by someone if it was a private seller rather than a business. You & DMC are right though, they're def better value 2nd hand.

  • 1st or 3rd choice Superprecise, chronos rarely do it for me but up to you fella. Black face at a pinch :)

The 'Who Dares Wins' engraving should knock about 500 quid off the eBay number for cheeseocity.

  • He was in the military, it was given to him as a gift, why's it cheesy?

If it was just on some random cityboy from Chingford I'd agree but it has meaning and sentiment

  • Yeah, but for whoever buys it it's cheese city.

  • mmm. now there's a city I'd like to visit.

  • Mmmmm, that'd be brie-lliant

  • You'd cheddar get going then....

What BlueQuinn said. It means nothing to the buyer and that was my point because he's selling it. Unless of course someone is going to get off on having a watch that used to belong to someone who was in the army possibly the SAS.

People do, I'm not saying you're one of those people. I just find it a bit, well, adolescent I suppose but each to their own. You know like getting off on a army surplus gear because it 'had really been in the army' when you were a teenager (I know I did and lots of mates did as well but to be fair we were 15).

If it was Andy McNab's IWC then fair enough if you like playing at soldiers ;)

  • yep, get the pilots chrono. or the mark 16. dont much care for the silver faced ones, the 12 o'clcok subdial cuts into the logo, that upsets me for some reason... love mine, but it doesnt keep amazing time, its going to get sent off soon for service!

  • ^ that's the horological equivalent of Liberace - completely over the top and impossible to take seriously.

Sounds just like me.. maybe I should take up the piano?

  • also yum

  • I think this would look rather yum with a black mesh bracelet, 23 jewel automatic:

  • yum

Lust! That's how I want mine to look but not paying £1,200 for a bracelet! :-(
