I've never seen a Breitling that didn't scream "city boys first bonus", my own failing I know but I just can't get past the association.

I think they're finding their feet again. They used to be nice, then got really shit (looking) and are now becoming decent again. I think these, for example, could be really decent watches:

https://www.breitling.com/gb-en/watches/chronomat/colt/automatic-41/A17313101F1A1/
https://www.breitling.com/gb-en/watches/chronomat/colt/automatic-41/A17313101G1A1/The latter two are a big improvement aesthetically on the old Colt and seem like a good value proposition when compared to a Tudor/entry level Omega.
Guess it's both good (from a cost point of view) but bad (from a resale point of view) that you can find Breitling's at a discount, but if I could find one of those Colt's at as much of a discount as some other Breitling's, I'd definitely be interested.

I still really like the Navitimer. Not enough to pay anywhere near the asking price mind you.

A current Porsche, absolutely.

Maybe if they got another 500 numbers onto the face the £/numeral ratio would improve enough to validate the purchase?

Navitimers are sensational. Historically important, truly innovative, and still beautiful time piece. I'd put them way ahead of Omega's Speedmaster in terms of historical relevance.
One of my good friends who owns one has worn it every day for 20 years and it still looks fantastic every single time.
Mick, find an excuse to treat yourself.

At the old place we had a sales guy who, true to form, purchased a Navitimer with his first bonus cheque - I later discovered that he was known, too his face, as "up-skirt, dirty vegas", for the whole period of his employment at Symantec following his performance at their annual sales conference.

Oof.
Thin I might prefer over Speedy to boot.

Ah, now - an old one, maybe. They're a) very pretty and b) not amenable to purchase on a whim in Canary Wharfs bowels when looking for an upskirting camera.

In all honesty, I think if I had to chose between the Navitimer and my current everyday watch:
I'd still choose the Citizen.
A combination of not having to care about the nicks and scratches that the Citizen has and will continue to pick up, along with knowing that my watch is bang on time (within a tenth of a second at least) whether it's on my wrist or sitting on a table for months on end are definite deal-makers for me.
Don't get me wrong, I know that in the flesh, the Navitmer looks leagues better. But the accuracy and replaceability of the Citizen win out for me!

I can see why. The sub-dial font is very Breitling too.

That is pretty damn nice though!

I wish I could retort in a witty fashion, but to be honest, I do prefer the models that also have the hour/minute markers on the inside of the bezel like so:
I mean, it's a little, tinier bit nicer than what I've got:
Or when I need even more numbers, this:
Horses for courses, of course. But I'm just happy there's a wide range of these types of watches available, which would not have been the case without the Navitimer. Hence my appreciation.

And the efficacy of the rotating slide-rule has been vouched for in the arena of drunken FX calculations when involved in negotiations with Turkish hookers, by USDV.

Needs more flags.
Also, I’d like a slide rule bezel some point.
Hmm yea. Opening bid is £120, estimate £300-400. Must have been priced after consulting current ebay offerings.
Case is too similar to my grandfather’s Montine, and to be honest it doesn’t have enough flags on it.
