turns out the compass isn't always on and is accurate to +/- 10degrees (which doesnt sound great)
i think i'd like to try one out for real before buying

You can use your watch as a compass anyway... #outbacksurvivalist

I have a Casio Protrek http://www.creationwatches.com/products/casio-protrek-58/casio-protrek-triple-sensor-atomic-prw-3000-1d-prw-3000-1-4147.html
Seems OK but I've never used it for anything that accurate that +/- 10 degrees would make a difference. May have a try at some point compared to a proper compass or a Garmin.

Just use your iPhone.
You have got an iPhone, right? Yeah of course you do. Who doesn't? -
• #16483
But wait... Isn't a smartphone's clock also super accurate?
*throws out watches*

Yo dawg.
I got an iwatch in my iphone so I can use the compass function for a few hours. Before I starve and die with nothing but a portrait of Jonny Ive to talk to.

I know the feeling - booked to go to NYC in November and currently wondering how I intend on paying for it!

I emailed the shop in whose window I saw the Freccione yesterday - £11,600.
That's quite a lot- indeed, it's quite a lot for that watch, which is normally around the £8,000 mark.
Anyway, that's academic really - I emailed on the off chance that it would be (magically) affordable.
I shall get the Vintage GMT when it is back in stock and give zero fucks about leaving it in my locker at the gym etc.

How bad is your memory that you don't remember how rare sunshine is over here? ;)

Watch people- are Nato and Zulu straps different or just two names for the same style?
-
• #16493
Different. I can't remember why though.
-
• #16494
Zulu straps have the bigger more rounded metal loolps. Natos are the flatter squarer loops iirc.
-
• #16495
also , zulu straps don't have that extra piece of material that goes behind the watch,
I think zulu's are usually made of thicker material but I could be wrong -

Also, there's thaahsands of 'em.
-
• #16497
Also they've got a very good bass section, mind, but no top tenors

I was going to say it looks like a Fossil, but it amounts to the same thing.
I know someone who has a Tissot with compass function.
The compass function broke after a while.
