Took my IWC to George Pragnell in Stratford on Avon for a service at the weekend, it's 5 years old now and as I bought it 2nd hand I thought I'd treat it to a full going over. Damn there are some seriously nice watches in that shop!
In the mean time I've bought myself a back-up/second watch as I needed one.
Went for a Steinhart Ocean Black DLC. While it's not quite up to the same standard of my Aquatimer in terms of quality, wrist presence and general awesomeness it's not bad.
I can't get on with metal bracelets, even though the stock one was fairly comfortable, so I swapped it for a cheap and cheerful black NATO strap for comfort and practicality seeing as I will be wearing this watch for the rougher tasks such as mountain biking and general outdoors activities where I don't want to risk damage to my nice watch.Anyway it's quite nice. I like it. I wanted something a little different so went for the black DLC coated version. I know Diamond Like Carbon is a decent, hardwearing coating and it looks pretty good. The watch is solid, well made and very decent quality. The bezel clicks are ok - 120 clicks but not a completely consistent feel all the way round and it does have about a half second amount of clockwise play but I can live with it. Case is good and the sapphire crystal is quite eye-catching with the bevelled edge and domed shape. It has a bit more glare than my IWC crystal but the quality is good. The ETA 2824-2 movement seems nice, it's running about 9-10 secs fast per day at the moment, I'll see how it settles down.

I was really tempted to buy one of those recently. Looks really nice.

My only criticism would be that the bezel looks way too big, it's all black tho' so it'll always get a thumbs up from me...

Am seriously considering taking a punt on a Pelagos. Le sigh.

any of you speedy owners polished your hesalite? i have had a run in with a wall or sommat and have a large area of scratches near the winder. not deep.

You could polish it yourself with toothpaste or autosol but for I'd save that for the cheaper / older watches.
If I ever properly scratched my speedmaster, it'd be straight down to Alsal.

It bugs me that the lugs on the Pelagos ugly, nowhere as nice as those on the Black Bay which are just the old style Sub lugs... Other than that it's a lovely watch... If only the Black Bay came with a black bezel!!!

You know how Tudor isn't sold in the UK (yet)? What does that actually mean in the age of the connected, global village? Can't a UK reseller just order a shipment and retail them over here?

I would imagine warrenties, and the fact that if Tudor don't want it to happen then it would be a pretty big black mark on that person?

I don't dig Rolex, too showy... Tudor is Rolex's cooler, hotter, younger sister...
I'd nab a Tudor Sub but they're hard to find with box and papers... Also very £$€¥!!!

Do Tudor sell elsewhere in the EU, they shouldn't really be able to block sales to the UK if so.
That Pelagos does look nice, they seem to have them here http://www.kcwatches.co.uk/25500-tn-tudor-pelagos-watch-7484-p.asp but it seems to be an internet only store

Chuffed to bits because tomorrow I'll have this show up :)
Not getting the bracelet (not a fan of the Jubilees at all), but am getting both bezel inserts. Have a bunch of NATOs to keep it on and experiment with for a while, but plan at some point to find a decent Oyster bracelet for it (though I have a feeling it may still spend a large part of it's time on a NATO).
normally people pop the insert out and glue the new one in (or so i thought)
