Pretty cheap plain Max Bill automatic in there. How accurate are those estimates, generally?
-
• #12229
^ Not very... that's the point.
A nice low "estimate" to get you interested and then it goes for 50% more.

I've never paid attention tbh.
I can't help but shake the feeling that I will sell my Max Bill after a while. Its gorgeous but its not me. Jana is trying to get me to keep it. I'm going to wear it a bit more often and see how I feel after six months I think. I only really wear it to weddings.

Hmmm... i quite fancy a Max Bill.

Its just so bloody nice to look at. Just doesn't seem to look as nice on my wrist. Give me some soul searching time.

I was interviewed in the building hosting that years ago. For that reason they should let me have what my heart desires. Lot 139 would do.
There was a liquidation sale held at a hotel last weekend, getting rid of laptops, watches and fine wines with very affordable estimates. Would like to have gone to see how the prices ended.

Incidentally, its interesting that the Watches of Knightsbridge catalogue has a lower guide price for a Speedmaster manufactured in the year of the moon landing complete with papers than a later moon landing tribute Speedmaster.
(Lots 218 and 219)

You div!

I don't think you need to search your soul, it's only a wristwatch after all. I never understand how people part with some large wads of lolly without being sure. Is it that you're itching for something else? What's wrong with having a dress watch anyway?
-

I'm itching after something else indeed. Jana is prob right though. Keep it and add that special something later on. The Max Bill Chrono is a seriously beautiful watch to take out of the watch cupboard (jokes) for special occasions.
I think I'm just all het up because my fake Sub broke. I'll get over it.

Don't be fickle! But then if you're not feeling it, move it on I suppose.
I got mine, my first and only proper watch, because I love it and can't presently afford the Sea Dweller or a Sub or that other 32k Rolex I saw recently. One day I'll get one (40th?!) but I'll hang onto the Max Bill because it serves a different purpose (aesthetically I suppose).

Remembered I never posted my Seamaster. Got it from Jammy very cheap, as there were a few issues with it and the inside was very grubby.
Took it to the yellow watch shop in clerkenwell, they were excellent and cleaned and replaced various parts to get it looking like this.
Super happy with it and has been my everyday watch since getting it. I feel its my first proper grown up watch. Well apart from by Cortébert but im too scared to wear that for fear of damaging it.

I've always gone personally to STS, really nice service, they have a quick look, give an estimate. They have a few display cases with nice vintage Omegas. Worth a visit and not hard to get to. Reasurringly expensive though.
