  • Just received this 1956 Longines 6B/159 pilot's watch back in the post from the excellent repair service at Obsoletewatchandclockparts.

This model of watch is actually a WW2 RAF issued watch which the MOD updated in 1956 with an improved case and crown. The same was done for Omega 6B pilot's watches too, so the '56 reissue has a very similar case.

First watch on this thread that I would genuinely purchase.

  • ^ That's a bit gorgeous!

If we are paying that game - this then. Timeless, elegant, sophisticated, just beautiful. The right amount of patina. Doesn't need the makers name blasted across the front, oozes quality.

I need a sub second dialled watch in my collection.

I inherited this from my Father, and early Audermars Piguet

  • why, thanks
i haz a nice colarless candy stripped grandad shirt, a pair o'batterd jeans and burnt pine grensons , complementing the strap, which I shall wear on it's triumphant return

It would look good anywhere, but best sneaking out from the single cuff of a light blue OCBD, so you can sneak a look to reaffirm your relationship.

    It's a lurve thing!

  • Saarf, that audemars is beautiful.

  • Much prefer the Heuer.

    Dis and

They make modern and beautifully rendered versoins of the classic Braun industrial designed watches of the 60s/70s - the whole idea is it's a utility design, the design should be secondary to the function, should be clean, invisible to the eye, etc. Dieter Rams, that whole deal. If you do end up getting this role I may be hitting you up for a discount. They make great looking watches.

    thanks

  • If i was in the market for another kettle, I'd go for the Panerai Luminor Submersible

the only proper ''big watch'' imo

  • What on earth is a kettle supposed to be?

  • ^

Kettle and hob = fob (fob watch).

  • What on earth is a kettle supposed to be?

a watch worn by footballers and neer do wells that should be left at home and used as door stops.

  • well i got two left feet and a square head, and I no neer do well
apologies if it offended, here's an example of the word as i intended,

  • I like how on that Audermars Piguet dial, the numbers are particularly small, and the batons are thin, which gives you a really uncluttered dial.

  • Sorry for a basic question, but could I have a recommendation for someone reputable and reasonably central that will do a good job servicing my wife's Heuer GMT.

    Thanks

  • Many people here have recommended Alsal.

  • I am in love with this;

  • Edward, I'm impressed

  • Really nice. Id buy one if it was automatic.

  • sartorial scoble ay?

  • Ive got the new watch itch real bad.

  • Quite tempted by a Smiths Everest. Not sure though. Any suggestions?

  • I think Timefactors did a quality reissue.

the Everest is one of my favourite as well, is there's more than one version?
