  • Did you see the tour today? No spoiling, but it was VERY exciting.

cav was pretty amazing and i liked that he said sorry to thor...can't wait for today though...am WELL excited...

  • i was thinking about evening training rides. I don't have loads of time in the evening so it might be good to get a train out to places and ride for 30/40 miles up hills and train back..what do you think? what dates can you do?

    a couple of routes:

  • ronnie: tomorrow we HAVE to beat seth's time on the cragg vale hill. he did it in 21 minutes. we need to do it in 19. yeah? yes! lancashire must beat yourkshire on their own turf. yes.

  • Arf ! If he does it in 21 I'll be lucky to do it in less than an hour. A mate may well be coming with us, so may get a lift to Rochdale. He's certainly better than me these days, but ain't gonna beat Seth.

  • yes we are.

  • "First off you need to be a member of a CTT affiliated club. I guess from
the question that you and your friends are not.

That is not a problem as we can offer you half price membership to YV for
the remainder of the year = £10. Alternatively if you do not intend to do
any other races then you could have 'day membership' for just the 18 October
    for £5.

You then need to enter the event before the closing date of 6 October which
costs £6.50 and can be done online here

or by using a paper entry form.

    Doug Hart
    Club Secretary

  • can't we just become an affiliated club?

  • That all looks a pain, suspect we're better off just joining them for a one day membership.

  • ronnie, you thought that looked a pain...

do you think we should have a go at riding this one saturday?

  • for anyone coming through on the 22nd, there's a train at 9.42 from Piccadilly, change at leeds, get into Skipton at 11.24, or a better bet, Oxford Road at 10.07,change at leeds, gets in at 12.07. last train back leaves skipton at 22.18, but anyone who wants to is welcome to stay at mine. I did the route the other day, and it's stunning. I think it's good practise for the tour of the peak, if we go down to ilkley and do the cow and calf. Malham Cove is NEARLY as bad as Winnats - it was bloody painful anyroad.

  • here's the view from the top of fleet moss, the highest point of the 22nd route. great.

  • it looks beautiful seth...i can't wait, it's so nice up there...

i think my "holiday" will involve "touring" with a very tiny backpack containing a few pairs of cycling shorts and socks. from here i shall ride over to yorkshire and towards fleet moss then over to the lakes and around and back to skipton for the 22nd...anyone want to join me for any part or knows any must-do routes then please let me know.

not hugely grueling, was thinking about doing this route..some big hills but not loads of miles over the amount of days

(this isn't set in stone though as a couple of friends still might talk me into staying in a static place where i cycle out every morning then hang out in the afternoons...)

  • and to make you a bit more jealous click here

The Tourmalet is not only the highest col in the Pyrenees it is the mountain most visited by the Tour de France. For that reason alone, riding it at least once is obligatory for any serious student of the alchemy of suffering on two wheels. Since the first inclusion in 1910, it has been omitted from the Tour itinerary only 12 times, including 2005, and once, in 1922, at the last minute, because the road was blocked by an avalanche. When the race bypassed it in 1992, someone commented that a Tour which missed the giant of the Pyrenees was like a visit to Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower.

  • think i might try to do this one day next week
