You need to make sure you time your sprint up college road for the BikeRadar CR tt ;)

Come on, anyone with information, I have to go to Biggin Hill to do an assessment today and I need to know if it's wicked hilly on the Main Road.
-
• #255
It's a gradual climb Jenne. The side up from Westerham is steep but the road from Bromley to Biggin Hill climbs most of the way but never gets that steep.

Jayloo, I've only ever been down there South to North, return leg of a Saturday loop. I've found it to be a very fast slight downhill in that direction, with the odd lump or two, so it's probably a tedious drag in the other direction.
-
• #257
Ahhh too slow.
-
• #258
ugh. and that means going fast downhill when there's rain and the wind picks up. is it a 40mph zone?

that would require some sort of planning.

I think it has a 40 mph speed limit for most of it. There are alternative routes but they are narrow country lanes and the gradient is less gradual on them.
-
• #261
But seriously, are there any other gradients I've missed on that?
I've got Sydenham, Cannonbie, Westwood, Anerly, Beluah / S Norwood. The bit in and around Auckland Road is under investigation as I know Fox Hill is worth it.
-
• #262
By canonbie you can go further down Honor Oak road, then down Dunoon and back up Tyson for some extra gradient. (Makes Horniman drive a bit harder as it's so short). And the surface on Tyson road is abysmal...

Don't mind it if there are sidewalks. I'd much rather ride than take pub transpo and the ride home will be nice, if a bit rainy.

• #264
see what I did there?
-
• #265
Suggested that you'd ride your bike on the pavement in some archaic form of language?

Got in some variation of the Rapha "nice but a bit pricey"?
(Maybe that should be the theme of the day. Get in a variation of "nice but pricey" in any response to any thread)

If somebody fancied organising a 'hills of South London ride' I'd be up for it, I don't really know South London at all on my own so I think I'd just get lost.
-
• #268
#2 ftw!
paved road surfaces...ah fuckit. I can't be arsed. both are paved, I'm just holding on to sidewalk since I've begun saying fucking moh-byl.
-
• #269
I'd be up for suffering up some London hills on a cold crisp winter's day. Good fun, beautiful views and local too, excellent.
If it was a small ride (sub 8 peeps), I'd contemplate cooking something nice for everyone at the end of it too, because I haven't cooked something nice in ages. -

@6pt: I think it would have to stay <8 for management issues anyway.
If the weather'sniceacceptable, I want to do that route tomorrow morning and get home by 11am. Any traffic indications I should know about? Do the local branches of the ToryYouthWings play football and need transporting by parents in large cars?@Jayloo: Moh-byl?
I would see that "route" I planned as being "nice, but hurty".

Looks like a list is required before I'm pushed off it.
