Looking for suggestions for lunch / brunch around Marylebone on a Saturday.
It's for my OH's birthday, but not like a big birthday treat meal. Just somewhere nice to eat while we go shopping. They are vegetarian so that is the key driver.
I've got Delamina saved as an option.
Any other ideas?
Cheers

Good to know. 👍
Always sad so many were lost to the Tottenham Court Rd development.

Had an excellent meal last night at Rogues on Hackney Road. Bit of a curveball, recommended by a friend and I'm so glad we gave it a go.
Out of 15 dishes and snacks, there was only one slight miss - almost everything was "oh, wow, that's amazing..."
Great service and beautiful plates. Wine list looks legit too. Small, relaxed dining room hidden away off the main road.
Only incongruous thing was the camp pop soundtrack, suspect it was a one-off when someone got their hands on the playlist. We'll defo be back.

I just watch 'Tucci - Searching for Italy' the other evening.
This episode was set in London and he visited an amazing looking Mercto Metropolitano, its in Mayfair rather, so a 10-15 stroll.
The setting of a deconsecrated church always looks impressive and from his reviews the food is outstanding.
I will be visiting ASAP!

Cheers. Sort of walking in the other direction north so don't really want to go much further south than the bottom of the high St.
So I guess I should have prob also asked for Baker St. recos too.

Cheers. Banked for the future as I love dim sum, but unfortunately dim sum is a bit shit for veggies.

On the subject of vegetarian restaurants, Swing in West Hampstead is really good. Handy for anyone on the Thameslink line north.

Som Saa for Thai. It’s the best and never disappoints. But my current favourite is Hiba in Walthamstow, Palestinian restaurant. Super friendly and fantastic food.

Not sure, and I don't think I'll go back to find out.
We were gifted the tasting menu as a wedding present.
Here is the menu.
Every course had something a bit yuck about it.
The razor clam, beetroot and raviolo was ok, but there was a lot of weird tastes and textures involved

Been about 6 times this year, I think that says it. Duck Fazzoletti is a must try! If you're into wines, have a glass of something before dinner at Passione Vino around the corner (closed on weekends).
Disclosure: I do have a working relationship with both of them (Just like most places mentioned the last few pages, nice to see :) ), but I keep going back on my own dime!

Wife took me for my birthday, on a recommendation from a friend of a friend who is a restaurateur. The food is fantastic, couldn't fault it. The service, once inside, is great.
However, we were sent multiple texts from the restaurant saying "you're meant to be here at 8 for your table" rather bluntly. We arrived a few mins late, walk past the queue snaking out the door, which we assumed was for walk-ins, only to be told "that is the queue for 8pm bookings" We were then made to wait 45mins outside in the rain before being seated. We asked the waiter why it was so chaotic to get in, and he said "it's always like that" 🤷🏼♂️
Anyway, food is great, but my wife said she wouldn't go again because of the queuing fiasco

In fairness, I've often found that with Italian restaurants, the quality of the food is inversely proportional to the quality of service. I'd rather have incredible food and shit service, hence why Da Augusto in Rome is the best restaurant I've ever been to

Took missus for her birthday.
Food great. Service dreadful. Was made to feel like we didn't belong there. Shame really as I was so so excited but one bad egg ruined it.
Examples being they forgot a dish. No biggy, I've no problem with a mistake Ordered something else from another server. Original server brings it. Slams it on the table and goes 'have you for everything now'
Asked for a wine recom and was just told 'white'.
Shame really. Was so gassed to go. Hope your experience is better.
:-(
I go there quite often and it's a place I always recommend to friends who come visit.
