I don't know, I think it was part of the black Friday sales. It's worth subscribing as that's how I heard about it and I've had the same offer a few times

For SSCX (120 mm rear spacing Tricross Singlecross) I need a 38t crankset. Currently have Sugino Messenger with worn 42t chainring. Can't find any cheap BCD130 ones, should I keep this crank and order ring from Aliexpress or look for a BCD104 MTB crankset that the ring can be easily found?

Alfine do a 39t...
-
• #7555
I used Sora triple on my pomp.
-
• #7556
Alfine is not-NW and as far as I know requires a chainguard and 9-speed chain, so not suitable for the rest of my 1/8'' drivetrain. Sora with which rings? I see triple is 130+74 BCD, so doesn't seem much better in terms of NW rings availability.

For SS why would you need a narrow wide?
Assuming you are using track ends you don’t need NW and you don’t need to run a guard with the Alfine ring.
-
• #7558
Fair point, don't know why I was thinking I have to have SS-specific ring on the front.
-
• #7559
So by just putting any 38 or 39t chainring on the current crankset I can run it without any problems?
Bike has track ends indeed. -
• #7560
Yes. I’ve done exactly that on a couple of sscx builds.
-
• #7561
Why do you need NW? Alfine rings are fine on 1/8". I use one for SSCX.

• #7562
3/32 teeth and 1/8 chain = nw

bants. Will give the bike a rooftop wash on the way.

Will neoprene toe covers get shredded doing cross?
-
• #7566
Probably
-
• #7567
Mm.
Doubt they'd do much anyway.
-
• #7568
They might taken the edge off the tingle at the start, but you'll bump the tyres, and run over mud and rocks and drag your toes and wear them out nine times more quickly.
One time I wore footcovers on a Epping forest honey badgers ride and it was just silly

you'll be fine while racing. it's the 5 minutes afterwards as the feeling comes back to your hands that'll hurt

Anyone know if you can just rock up and spectate at National CX Championships? Or is it a pay-for-a-ticket affair?
-
• #7571
Had great success keeping my feet warm during wet or cold races with the mid/light thickness SealSkinz socks (I assume that's why you're asking about toe covers)
-
• #7572
Free entry as far as I'm aware.
-
• #7573
You’d better not have to pay to watch me get lapped
-
• #7574
Cheers. Yeah today the toe covers would have got mullered. Managed THREE overtakes by tactical use of running through bad mud instead of riding.

SS? Better than last race?
Sorry, it was an old post. Is the £19.99 Eurosport Player offer still available somewhere?
