I went fast on the first lap and people were still there, that surprised me so I went faster on the second and that shifted them.
"Sometimes it's better to just drop everyone." said some guy.

Peel Park for the North of England champs.
A shortened course compared to its usual Trophy or Champs configuration but still genuinely amazing. Conditions were moderate for this venue but that still left quite a bit of up and down running and clagging up. I didn't have to change bikes but lots of leaves meant anyone on cantis was at a disadvantage.
Fell into a three way race against riders from both the other leagues so had a really enjoyable battle near the back for minor pride. While outclassed on the technical riding sections, I managed to hold on in the straights and put distance into them on the up running to beat them to the line. -

I'm late as ever but have got my first race this weekend, in Burnley Lancs. Posting here so I don't bail. My pal with a car isn't going so I'll be on the train then 25km ride to get there. Just looked at the weather - 4 degrees, a morning of sleety rain, then a rainy afternoon. Seems I'm getting quite the introduction to cross! God knows if the tyres I have will be up to it.

mate - PM me. Might have room in my caaaaaaaaaaaa

What tyres do you have?
Also, make sure you have some dry clothes to change into once you’re back on the train. Keeping warm and dry is essential afterwards.

Vittoria XM Pro 34c tyres - though a bit worn. Am fully expecting to hit the deck either way...
A big rucksack full of comfort and happiness is definitely a good shout, thanks

That's a level of commitment.

If there's any chance to have something "nice" for the journey back, pack it/take it.
Ride home after Frylands was made acceptable one year because there was a chip van. I'd lost my sense of humour. The chips restored them.

There's no other way in the north-west league without a car, unfortunately.
The bonny lanes of blackburn/burnley should have an abundance of opportunities for pie & chips I reckon.

Whereabouts in Burnley is it?
Also, if you're not aware, a load of Northern rail (including the Burnley line) are on strike on Saturdays. (I guess that could be what's causing the 25km ride.)
-
• #7547
Yeah the best I could find was a train to Blackburn, it doesn't come up on thetrainline as being rail-replacement bus
-
• #7548
They might have some running due to the football. Timetables are here in theory (but I wouldn't rule out it being worse) https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/strike

Where can I find this offer?

You'll have to give me a clue?
I watched that on Sunday night.
Priorities.
