The course was good - the start and pit location were curious.

Just buy a set of spacers and a couple of singlespeed cogs and convert the rear wheel.
It was in Brighton last year and quite a few of us from here rode, I don't recall anyone checking bikes, it was pretty much self policed. They've a Facebook page with more info if you've not seen it;

I really want to do it, but am going to be at a trade show with work the week before in Germany so will have to give it a miss.

Would ziptie'ing a sram lever be a legit option to convert geared bike into a SS?
That's pretty much what @Doctor_Cake did. But yeah one of those splined Gusset converters does nicely too.

Oi, stop giving away my training secrets!
Liked that course, definitely rewarded the risk takers. Big hills that are borderline rideable are apparently also advantageous.

yeah, the start at PORC was interesting. I preferred the previous course. Good quality of mud though.
National Trophy yesterday was fast. Too fast. I struggle on those dry courses with all the big accelerations out of the corners, but great course, great facilities and a strong field so I was chuffed to finish in the top half on the lead lap. I think bigger things are planned for that venue, fingers crossed.

I think bigger things are planned for that venue, fingers crossed.
National champs next season is the plan, I don't think Huw is making any secret of that ambition.
Good result yesterday, especially on a dry, fast course like that which I know doesn't play to your strengths.

Gentle reminder that entryβs are open for Lovelo Crossmas on 17th December in Berkhamsted. We think the bridge is sorted again for this year, and it will be slightly wider and the steep side will be slightly less steep than last time.

For anyone with an interest, I took some photos at a weekend CX event in Saitama, Japan this past weekend.
Really good event with different race classes (including βtrackocrossβ, kids race, and the sunset race), good food and drink, and more.

What are the chances of riding as a vet when not one yet? my only reason to take prt would be to race mates and they are both oldies, Iβm not going to be challenging for prizes but donβt know how strict conditions are...?
-
• #6867
They can race seniors but you can't race vets.
-
• #6868
As owlz said they can race the seniors but you canβt enter the vets. Or alternatively you can all enter the go race/novice race. Iβve previously seen some vets do the novice race, then the vets race, and then have a crack at the seniors too all on the same day.

We have a novice race? Why have I been racing seniors all this time?

Who's entered sscxec18?

I am going!

Looking like some fun conditions today!

Proper cross weather.

It sounds ace. I should probably race a league round with ziptied mech to get used to it.
-
• #6875
There is nothing to get used to. You don't even think about it to be honest. Only on the flats maybe
And well done @Jon. for the win.
