Anybody racing hog hill today?
I am heading out from Clapton around 12.Also I have been thinking. Could I run a tubeless tyre with a latex inner and get the benefits of both combined?
I rolled my tubeless front tyre during training Tuesday. I only had an latex inner tube so I put that in. All the latex sealant was still in the tyre but I had to get on with training so I couldn't do anything about it.
Wednesday after work I took out the tube to set the wheel up as tubeless again. The tyre seamed to have resealed with the latex inner inside.
This got me thinking
If I could get the valve hole airtight. Could I then combine the two. Essentially get low pressure and sealant protection. If I roll the tyres it won't burp out air and if I get a pinchflat, air will stay inside the tyres. Also, which mud specific tubeless tyre should I choose? I would not mind a thread pattern close to Limus, which I have had as a tubular tyre before, and loved.

I'll be there. Either on my town bike or a full-sis MTB. Choices, choices...

The Vittoria XL is the best I've used. Grip for days.

You are describing a ghetto version of Schwalbe Pro-Core.
You need to drill a second valve hole. Run the tubeless valve through that and run the inner valve through the existing valve hole.
Pump them up independently. Obvs inner psi < outer
A road tubular will be better than an inner tube tho
Then bosh - really heavy wheels!

Thanks. It says dry condition on their site tho. I have XMpro now at that is alright.

Haha sounds like it is not going to work. I'll stick with tubeless for now then.

These ones;

They have an aggressive tread like a Limus or Rhino, way better than the XMs (which are more of an intermediate tyre in my opinion) and perfect for British winters.

I bought a pair last winter and was amazed at how much grip they gave. Easily the best mud clincher I've used.
-
• #5012
I'll try that again
-
• #5013
I'll give it a go thanks.

• #5014
Tnt or standard?
-
• #5015
Standard. They worked perfectly on my Stan's Iron Cross rims, running them as low as 25 psi.

Cheers for that, looks very promising.
Apart from the first Saturday race clashing with the Urban Hill Climb, which I also entered.
Perhaps I'm doomed never to race?

Are there any good 15-20 minute CX loops in south east London for training efforts?
-
• #5018
what's the circuit like at Penshurst?
I've watched a couple of the videos on the London league website but they only show a longish looking ziggy zaggy down hill bit -
• #5019
Long climb on a fire road, then a mad dash back down the hill with a series of switchback bends to slow you down.
-
• #5020
Loads of fun in the mud and cold then.
-
• #5021
If it's muddy it's horrific. It'll be rock hard next week though.
-
• #5022
Cheers, sounds very much like round 1
-
• #5023
More elevation per lap I think, sadly.
At least I won't be hamstrung by a single gear for it though.
-
• #5024
Was muddy and impossible last year. I fell off so many times then quit.

that was the video I watched,it looked pretty miserable
should be dry and dusty this year
I am racing London Phoenix's Central League race at Hog Hill tomorrow.
