Could I just turn up and enter? It won't be full? I'd be on a full-sus MTB if I did. Probably as inappropriate as last night's hybrid...

Yep, entry on the day is fine. It definitely won't be full.
You'll have grip at least, so one advantage from last night...

Shite. Just realised that cranks, chain and cassette are in a box off the MTB. Probably not going to work in time. And I'm not sure I can arrive on a hybrid in the cold light of day. May come to watch though.

That was fucking muddy.

Lol, yeah. Just like last year.

a superior kind of mud, in my opinion, to what we've seen this season. The lack of grass meant it was mostly ridable, perhaps a little less clogging.
Always enjoy riding at Fryland but always trash a tub. Might give tubeless ago again.

Guess my bike just doesnt have enough clerance.. Had to run pretty much all of the section at the top. The leaves are evil..
Really enjoyed the climb and descent.. ie the bits i did ride. -

Thanks to everyone who came down on Friday and got festive! Blown away by the support and the effort that went into the bikes and costumes, all made for a great atmosphere.
We found a Kryptonite mini-D at the course, we'd like to get it back to its owner so if its you or you know who's it is then let us know!
Already excited for Round 4 in the new year, keep an eye out for info soon.

First top 10 yesterday in the western league. Nice and muddy with a bit of elevation and only one set of barriers. Made a good start and managed to hang on to the front bunch for a couple of laps then settled in and had a bit of too and fro.
All going pretty well and the fmb super muds working outstandingly. A lot of people struggling with the mud and traction and also with clogged bikes. Around 45mins in I reached down to clear some mud from the bottom bracket area and dislodged the chain. Narrow wide chairing meaning a bit of faff to put back on and all the mud meant it then came off twice more. Thankfully I only lost a place in the end as despite being passed by a few guys they then had to stop to clear their bikes.
8th in the end which I am super happy with. Although it now means I have a new target of a top 5...

I trashed a tub too, gave up at that point and waited by the line for the winner to come through, then strolled over.
Had a decent first lap until someone wiped out in front of me and I fell on top of him. Got going again, then the bike was so clogged with mud and leaves that the chain kept dropping. Was having to stop 3 or 4 times a lap and get it on again.
It was top quality mud though, cracking stuff.

Sounds like Sram X1 (other single chainring products exist) met it's match yesterday. Dropped chains all over the place.

Dropped chain and pulling kilos of mud from the front fork. Bruised back and shoulder, poor carrying tekkers.
27 minute lap.Did get chips though.

It's match is a heady mix of leaves and mud. I found a worm in my rear derailleur after the race too.
Instant high protein recovery snack.

High quantities of mud and the worst run-up in cyclocross, at Spa last weekend.

Wow..... brutal!

do you still have these / are they available?

The UCI 33mm tyre rule only effects National Championships and the National Trophy, right? No restrictions on cat A races?
-
• #4425
Only applies to UCI sanctioned races, so most UK cat A races are exempt.
There's a London League race tomorrow at Frylands Wood, less than half an hour's ride from you. You can do it on a MTB if you want too.
I think the best all round clincher is the Michelin Mud 2, it's good in dry and intermediate conditions and copes with mud as well as most.
