First race today went reasonably well. I achieved what I set out to which was to finish the race, not be last and not injure myself or bike. avg HR 189

Was up at the CX race in Keighley last week. Saw someone sporting the forum Peleton T, anyone from here? Didn't see anyone trying to race SS but the course wasn't well suited to it.

Guys for those running a SS CX set up what GI are you using?
Does it depend on the course?
DJ - I figure the best training is entering races!

After seeing a guide on an American CX site, I decided to give making some barriers a go...(excuse the crappy phone pic)
£8.41 all in from Screwfix and about 10 minutes to knock up, just need to practice now before my first race.

^ Ah that's cool...there's also some foldable barriers you can buy that are constructed like modern tent poles. Yours is certainly cheaper though!

I have been practicing by either falling over when trying to remount , or by lying in a muddy field in the foetal position and hyperventilating ' til I pass out

Anyone going to Herne Hill today for the race?

Only way to get better is to practice.
I think most of the top 20 at Oxford this weekend were semi-pro. I think 2 are going to Belgium to race a season there in a couple of weeks. I say "think" because we're still waiting on the results.
Apart from me there were maybe 2 other riders who weren't on a club.

It was indeed! It's funny how thing start to tick and you get the dis/mount correct and then BAMB! You launch onto one of your testicles and land in a thorny bush... I seemed to find riding on the grass super hard... so slow.
Getting there though....

Hah!
Anyone know when they put the results up so I can see how much faster I need to get? -
• #293
Results are usually up within 24 hours thanks to the whizzy software they've been using for this series.
Well done for racing, Neil. Glad you enjoyed it.

I was just starting to get competitive with a couple of other chaps when I dropped my chain and had to stop to fit it again.
Next time...
Howard comprehensively kicked my arse tonight.

10.4 mph average speed- my tyres nearly caught fire
that looks almost identical to mine, same gearing as well, except I have canties and black tape and saddle. Good rig, perfect even.
