  • Epping?

I have Epping routes a plenty.

    Epping tomorrow then?

  • I'm out, sorry.

But here are some CX friendly routes for you.

  • I'd rather have linked to those, not embedded them, but you don't seem to be able to do that.

  • That's ok, the embedding doesn't work on Chrome/Windows - so there's a number of Garmin Connect links hovering in the middle of a massive empty post.

  • Hit the Surry hills yesterday on my newly built Pomp, +50km and with 1500m climbing. Super fun and wet but a little on the chilly side.

One thing I learnt, DON'T use Tektro mini-V stock pads. They are like butter. Went through a pair in the day, yes there was a reasonable about of braking in shitty conditions but I was by no means constantly on the brakes.

  • 1.500 meters in 50k is impressive on SS - Good!

  • That's ok, the embedding doesn't work on Chrome/Windows - so there's a number of Garmin Connect links hovering in the middle of a massive empty post.

it doesn't work for you, perhaps. I'm using Chrome on Windows and all routes are embedded.

I didn't check this thread on Friday, sorry. Next week?

  • Anyone ridden at Luton previously? What's the course like?

BC says £18 for seniors? seems a little steep, might enter the novice race, I have things to do in the afternoon anyway. If it's a lap around a school field I may give it a miss entirely.

  • A lap around a school sums it up well - there are some nice little features but it's not the most exciting venue in the world.

Still I was thinking of going and putting it down as training.

  • I'm going to venture out to Gravesend, family sickness permitting, to try the new course at the Cyclopark.

For those that haven't seen, next Sunday's London League race at Herne Hill has been moved to Hog Hill.

  • 'There Will Be Mud III' was excellent!

  • I'm going to venture out to Gravesend, family sickness permitting, to try the new course at the Cyclopark.

How were you planning on getting there Andy?

Could get a train to longfield or northfleet. Seriously tempted by the thought of a) cyclopark and b) a new course.

  • Train from Bromley South to Meopham, then ride from there.

  • Cool well I might see you there - train to Northfleet makes the most sense for me.

    Mud tyres?

  • Rhinos are fitted and ready to go.

  • Definitely worth the trip to Gravesend for that one. Good shout Andy.

In other news, DC and I are off to Belgium next weekend to watch the World Cup in Koksijde. Get in.

  • I was meant to be doing that but couldn't get the time off work :(

  • You missed a great course, a real test of bike handling skills and quite unlike anything I've ever done in the London League before.

Got the tyre choice completely wrong though, as I turned up with Rhinos and to give you an idea of how little mud there was, I didn't need to wash my bike when I got home.

  • Tracers would have been good I reckon. Least I didn't schlep the limus all the way down there only to discover they'd have been useless. Having said that mud iis weren't exactly brilliant either. Racing Ralph tubeless would have done a better job.

  • Tracers would've been ideal. I was happy with how it went though, especially given my recent training regime.

    According to the results I was 83rd though. I should've been 11th or 12th I think.

  • I gave Howard a shout as I was heading back to the train station after racing in the Vets. It was a properly good course, and getting there was so easy from St Pancras.

Bent my mech hanger in a crash, but fortunately I have a spare that's now gone on ahead of next week's race out at Hog Hill. I have to learn that the transition from wet grass/mud onto fine tarmac can be very very slippery.

  • Ah I wondered who that was! Thanks :)

I'm glad the spectators drifted away for the seniors - neither my legs nor my mind was on the job. My objectives then were to not mechanical and to finish without hurting myself. Met both of them but I was not competitive at all.

Andy I suspect they've published the raw results from the computer. Hopefully they'll update them with the manual corrections later.

  • Like a boss...

  • The Three pimples route - looks mainly road with some trial.

What would be a suitable pressure for clinchers? Pushing above 40?
