• Any idea what these bars are? Maybe the Archie speedways could look quite similar.

Have you got a picture of those from a different angle? They look lovely.

  • The ends have been trimmed an inch or so!

The above pictures were from a little test - now I'm using the reversible stem 'upside down' as I used too:

  • jacob that bike is a thing of beauty, very nice indeed.

Anyway, has anyone come across a Cinelli Valenci type bar but narrower? less than 50cm ideally

  • just ride it like that, no need for narrow bar, or 'idiot' bar as RPM put it.

  • 'idiot' bar, i like it. No I don't want idiot bars I just want a slightly narrower valencia type bar. I had On One mary's but they were far too wide for town. And once you start cutting these bars I lose room for my hands. Perhaps they don't exist....

  • old kids bike may have similar shape as those, plus those Velo Orange bar can be trimmed to be as narrow as you like it to be.

the downside is that a narrow moustache style bar may be awkward to ride with.

How do you trim moustache bars without taking a section out of the centre?

I have, well they're 50cm but can be trimmed a bit. I've got 'big hands' and they've loads of room left. 3ttt Valencia.

  • nice, there are options then. Having read the thread properly I noticed the Soma Sparrow's too, they come in a narrow version - could be perfect if I flipped them too, just a look a little difficult to come by

  • I'm considering something like this for my charge plug. The plug is fairly compact already, do you think handlebars like this would make it too compact?

  • Nice thread, the pictures paint... well, how ever many pictures x 1000 words.

  • Oh for the love of..

when it come to moustache bar - narrow (especially idiot bar® narrow) is niever a good idea, doesn't make it handle any better.

buy a moustache bar, put it on your bike and see how you like it.

  • I never mentioned narrow bars...

I was talking about the cockpit, ie the length if the top tube, which is short.

You can get over your little moment of drama now.

  • in case anyone is looking for some Condor is selling nitto moustache bars for £29.95 everyday price. thats almost half compared to other retailers and less then the usual mail order places.

  • Thinking about shoving an On One Midge on my Trek District. Do I need to be fussy about levers?

    Suggestions, anyone?

  • Just get some ergo levers like this, spend a bit of time adjusting the position of the brake lever first though.

    This.
I use Record Brake Levers on mine, they feel great (recent-ish pic if you interested)
Midge bars are super comfy to ride, good choice.

  • Thanks guys. Record might be a little too expensive for a Trek District but I'll check out the Cane Creeks.

  • Movember auction via The Tweed Run.
    Ed, start bidding.
