Thanks to all for what was a really amazing evening! I'd especially like to thank Clintsmoker for hanging back with me and motivating me with promises of beer.
It was really nice to meet a lot of you and I hope to make another ride again. However, I may need to harden up a bit before then. I am sore in strange places.

Cheers everyone, great ride. Lovely route and good pace.
Shame no one brought any peanuts though.
Glad the biscuits went down well, maybe jammy dodgers next time. -
• #979
^ aha...! you are very right. I will think about peanuts next time, definitely

That was FUN!
Not much to add... The ride had a little bit of everything, except the bad shit, which is good.
Highlights for me were the sunset, the two chicitas laughing at all the obstacles along the way, Texas' high speed bunny hop, and the fast (35mph you say BMMF) home straight.
All that, no P's and the earliest arrival back home yet.
Great to see Wools and JDSH out there (finally!), aswell as all the other regulars and new-comers.
Enough riders to call it a peleton.
Chapeau Tim and Jonny.
The Alps won't know what hit 'em.Martin... your offer WILL be taken up.
Until next time...

I'm amazed at the lack of punctures! Earliest time back you say! That is good work.
-
• #982
@ shoots - yeah, I know it was 35mph for the last 2 miles on the flat, because I was following markrjohnson ;)
@ kx.001 - outbound riders were me, Texas, purple_mj, balmain, & Nat (but clintsmoker and claus rode out independently (from us, and each other)); homeward riders were me, Texas, purple_mj, & claus (but we hooked up with markrjohnson on the flat road through Epping Forest and he gave us a 35mph tow for 2 miles).

yeah lovely ride that y'all.
big up to all the regulars and real good to see so many popping their TNRC cherry. from experienced fast men like Claus and Dan to others starting their flirtation with longer and possibly faster rides, Serk, wools. sasmon, those Swains lanes laps kept you in good stead. crowbar, nice riding dude, and more importantly, nice biscuit packing. tika and diapo, was so cool listening to you girls chattering away through the hertfordshire night. nat, love that battered Condor dude - keep it that way i say. marcom, i reckon we'll be seeing you out there again for sure.
we might do this one again in a couple of weeks and will be a nice easy one after the alps. will discuss with CS and post up before end of week.
but to all of you out there getting your first taste i would say you will all be good for stepping up to one of the Slightly More Undulating rides that say Kent or the Chilterns have to offer. and we will have you sprinting up the Surrey Hills before the season is through.
Texas & Polkinghorn - good luck on Thursday C2C.

Really enjoyed that. Well worth the wait. Woke up this morning with a "did I just dream that?" feeling. I guess this must be a common TNRC side effect.
Great to meet the TNRC regulars and fellow newcomers. Like Marco said - pity there's wasn't more time to chat/drink at the pub. Would have been a nice reward after those miles although crowbar's goodies and diapo's peanuts were a fine substitute. Especially echo Marco's comments about talking and riding. I was feeling preeetty unfit at certain points of the ride so apologies to those who tried to engage in conversation with me during those bits.
Totally down for the next one!*
*providing it's not the Surrey Hills :D

"did I just dream that?" feeling. I guess this must be a common TNRC side effect.
yep but quickly reminded that it wasn't a dream by the soreness in the legs...today i crawled into work - very slowly but, very happy. i love tnrc
big up to all those out there last night and to bmmf, claus and purple_mj (the real machine for adding another 10+ miles FIXED) for keeping the pace on the way back.
jonny, clintsmoker - enjoy the alps...

I'm not really one for talking in the bunch either - only when I'm at the front. Considering I'm fairly fit at the moment, it must simply be a case of being an anti-social cunt.
I'll echo the sentiment that all the newcomers slotted into the TNRC groove with aplomb. It's an amazingly coherent group, without feeling sanitised. A lot has stemmed from this forum, but personally speaking, the TNRC is fast becoming the one I'll be talking to my grandchildren about, or, if I have none of my own, other people's grandchildren that I kidnap from Waitrose.

• #991
Nice one you all, big up to all the TNRC first timers for braving it and giving it a go, great to see you out there and taking a risk hope to see/meet you again, the usual suspects thanks for continuing to make it such a great night out, Jonny and Clintsmoker as usual cheers for pulling it together and BMMF for leading us in and out of Roydon back home. With your 88 miles BMMF + 13 back to Sidcup a century ride for a Tuesday night cant be bad...

I think I want to devise a TNRC route...
-
• #993
All manner of respect for everyone out last night, it was a blast until the last 10 miles when I went through the floor (cheers to clintsmoker, once again, for towing me in).
And to purple mj, bmmf, Texas and Balmain for showing me the way out of town.
Great to meet you all
Ps johnny have no fear, my seatpost is so seized I'll have to wait till that fails for a respray!

I think I want to devise a TNRC route...
something unique, doable but ultimately anti- f*^king- social ;)

I think I want to devise a TNRC route...
I'm now worried...
-
• #996
Stop fretting - it's meant to provide my easy miles.
We could do Tuesday Night Rollers Club, or worse still Turbo Night Ride Club. Then I could show you what anti-social means.
-
• #997
yes please ...
-
• #998
Rollapaluza could do with a club member called Jenny. She'd be the darling of the cycling press.
