here is the route map reeen. we will set off from liv st station at approx 19:15 , if the ride goes according to plan we can get on the 22:45 or 23:45 returning to liv st station. already it sounds like bmmf is riding out there though so join up with him if you fancy the extra miles
all- please copy in the header as you add your name to the list so those logging on know exactly what the list is for without having to hunt down the info. we do chat a bit ;)

Hey cheers for the light advice from clintsmoker and bmmf. Will be joining you if that's cool. I've dragged out a cateye abs 10 light I have and got it working again. Thought I'd killed the NiMH but turns out it was the bulb (shows what I know about electrics). Been ok with it on unlit country roads before.
Clintsmoker have you broken the light mount on yours? I have a load of spare cateye mounts so may just have one for ya (I agree they're pretty bollocks)

Nat - it's hanging on by the skin of it's teeth. if you do have a spare i'd appreciate it.
all- myself and jonny will happily bring up the rear on this ride as we are winding down for the alps and are not out to break any records. this is a great ride for those who have maybe shyed away from the TNRC thinking the rides are too tough or that the group is too fast. - Jonny

Brett and I rode the North Downs route on Saturday, along with a 20 mile extension at the most southerly point. He would be a good addition to the TNRC.
Incidentially, that steep narrow drop after the section along the main road is a piece of cake in the daylight. Purple_mj, I could even see the camp site you used to go to as a nipper! And the burnt out car at the beginning of Exedown Hill has now been removed.
And I can confirm that the first pub on the left as you come into Farlingham is a great spot for a quick pint on our way back to St Mary Cray!

If I can get a light that will do the job. Will a Hope Vision 1 on it's own be sufficient? Moving house has taxed my funds so I could do with a value option.

It's in the post. I am a bit nervous about joining this elite bunch.

'Nervous' should be an understatement. We are fa-fucking-st. You *will *suffer horribly.

elite group or just not very many of us? you decide. every single one of the riders that has tipped up so far has ridden really well. this is a loose group of folks from the forum who had pretty much never met before. everyone has a friendly approach and will bend over backwards to help each other. it is worth noting however that we have trains to catch to get home so if you have never riddden 30 - 50 miles before and find hill climbing difficult then think twice about coming on the harder rides. as for this tuesday i'd be upset if my grandmother couldn't make the cut - and she's dead

check the light that bmmf posted (earlier in thread) - stick one to your helmet and you get more light for about 1/4 of the price...

I'll dig around in the box of tricks. What model is it?

Yes, I lurk. Thanks for the link to the Hope, mashton - but is it really 9.95kg?? I hope not, but I s'pose it might explain the special offer...
I'm not a Londoner, so don't have a chance to even entertain wildly deluded notions of joining you guys for a ride, but your tales of derring-do are making me ponder the possibility of getting out on my own in the evenings 'round these parts (deekest, darkest Hull - this is why I need the Hope - it's dim up North, tha' knows...).
-

nat - that's the fella
if0x - reccommended you do this kinda thing up your end but not alone. touch wood nothing major has gone wrong yet but if you get stranded or have a fall you'll need buddies more than ever. take it easy mate

if0x - if you don't know him already drop mike e a line. top dude, top rider, ... well, can't think of another top but you get my drift.
hey guys,
reading through most of the thread, i couldnt find all e need to know. i really like the idea of the rides in my 'back yard' (well i don't know shit about the era *erm). i live in and commute to/from Chislehurst and try figure how to adjust the tour to either come from home or split up to get back home in a way that it makes sense for me to take part in it and join in. any hints and or rough outline of the routes would be much appreciated as i need to tweak it a bit for me to fit. what are the train station(s) you use once out of ldn. do you ride back to ldn city or train in via different route? i haven't figured it all out yet as to whether i come join in from home or ride with you lot from Vic'station and split up for a quick way home. Where the latter is my fav at the moment.
cheers and forgimme sir, if its been all in here, but it's so much chatter here, i might just skipped over it.
