  • Did the werewolves get him?

Sounds like I missed a good one. I wanted to come but my legs are still grumbling after Saturday's cobble fest. Am looking forward to the next one though.

  • Shame about the punctures.

Cheers Jonny, the face healed fine, but the knee doesn't look too clever still. Didn't help that I ripped the skin off in exactly the same place 2 months later when my crank snapped on me.

  • Hi guys!

Just got out of my meeting, into another. Will log on later when I'm done with the waxing... I have developed a strange taste for human flesh?!... But I'll have to settle for soreen...d'oh....

  • @ved - why a picture of Richie? ;p

  • Gutted I missed a good one by the sounds of it, great night, route, pace and company, nice one all.

  • i was so close from backing out yesterday, but i'm glad i didn't...

that was a proper TNRC adventure. punchy pace, full moon, clear roads, werewolves. amazing.

great to see everyone again and Oliver and Gus, hope you can make more rides.

i see everyone got home ok. I had to go back via the office to pick up a suit and shoes and then ride home way out west. needless to say there was a fucking headwind all the way there and i was swearing at empty roads all night. but then again its TNRC...nobody said it was easy...

  • cheers for another cracking ride!

  • great post Ved. can fully understand the synapse at that last blowout. two mile is it one? want to get home.

speaking with clintsmoker earlier though and the commitment is to do decent and interesting 30 - 40 mile rides thirty mins from central london.

it is wicked that the TNRC is attracting riders from all sides of the compass.

  • martin - we missed you out there. you would have loved it . but we will be back out there i'm sure of that (we only have two routes lol)

    ...so kent boys..get plotting

...ideas anyone for a slightly less demanding surrey ride?

essex is on the cards will recce something tomorrow/ today and des has some ideas too. will be a train from liv st to either shenfield or a little village called ....inget something or other. a 30 min journey in the 10 pound region.

  • or a little village called ....inget something or other

    Ingatestone. Nice riding up there.

Cycling Club Hackney's 'Round Chelmsford' 100-miler will be on the 19th April. As the name indicates, a loop around Chelmsford that takes in the area around Ingatestone, too.

  • what are the hackney crew like ollie? a decent ride this or not?

guy - good riding last night dude, see you next time

  • what are the hackney crew like ollie? a decent ride this or not?

Should be. I couldn't keep up with the leading group last time around. Depends on who turns up, I guess. But it's a really nice route no matter what the speed is like.

  • ...so kent boys..get plotting

I could have a look at something from, say, Swanley. That's 30 mins from Victoria. It's not quite straight into the countryside like Effingham or Roydon (I have been to Roydon before so I know what it's like!), but after a mile or so you're right in the thick of it.

Jinny and Shoots can vouch for my route plotting :0)

  • He's a natural born navigator... sounds good Sam.
    More routes the better.
    Plot on.

  • Sam - all looks good to me mate . we should do all three suggested routes over time. i wonder if you could get them linked on here ? i have no particular preference and would be going on favoured shape of your squiggly blue line only. the only point left untouched is return trains home.

anyone else fancy this hackney thing on the 19th?

  • Anyone thinking of riding tonight? Nothing stressful...

  • Anyone thinking of riding tonight? Nothing stressful...

have been lazy and not changed tyre on my bike after tuesday and have been using the polo bike. tonight just going to take it easy.

clintsmoker is out doing Swains Lane at the moment - trying to beat your record lol

Well, if anyway wants to see them, they are here.

Two routes to St Mary Cray (25-odd mins from Victoria) and one to Sevenoaks (35 mins from Charing X), both costing less than a tenner return (according to nationalrail.co.uk)

Looks like there will be a recce of one of these before any actual ride, so none of this is gospel.

  • nice work sam, sorry i didn't get back to your pm but i knew clintsmoker was on it as was chatting with him earlier.

kent looks like it will be the next one after the chilterns. excellent. and be good to have you on point so you might want to work out what Tuesday is best for you.

  • Sweet. Is there any way we could incorporate that fucker of a climb we did on the Canterbury ride, the real steep sharp one which then loses some gradient but then lingers on and on and on...

  • swains lane 8 x

    time : 59 mins 23 secs
    dist: 12.28 miles
    avg: 12.41
    max: 33.36mph

on a de rosa 9 speed . all climbing done on 42/23.
slippery conditions on hill meant wheel spin but mild weather cond.
    started at 15:25 hrs

thanks to the good looking girl who cheered on climb 6 and responded with 'OH MY GOODNESS' when she asked if i was going all the way to the top and i said 8 x....i love you for that.

Welcome to the Swains Club. As you were riding a De Rosa in 42/23, I'm assuming it was one-legged pedal drills all the way?

  • Sam I am up for a recce of these routes with you, let me know when you are thinking about it?

i gotta say BMMF you inspired me to even try it and i was pleased to get in under the hour mark. your 45 mins is safe but coming from a guy who states that illegal stimulant abuse is a sign of commitment i reckon i did better than i first thought ;)

by that data you would have lapped me...twice lol
