  • i'll meet those riding out at the same place as last time (on queensbridge rd near tower block) just after 615 but if i'm not there don't wait as i may get stuck at work.

  • I've been pointed in this threads direction for some advice regarding lights (Apparently you guys seem to know quite a lot).

I'm after some decent quality lights which I can use to ride right through the night, so longevity of battery life is important. I'm not looking for something which is brighter than the sun but only lasts 8.2 second from full charge.

Budgetwise I'm pretty flexible but keeping it to around 175ish would be nice. Though being me I could easily be persuaded to stretch that by another 100GN.

What do you all find works well?

  • through the night? I recommend a dynamo hub and iq cyo light. 150gn and rebuilding wheel. Battery powered, I have no idea though :)

  • does anyone have a cateye clothing clip thing? I'm not sure how visible my back light is going to be..

  • plagiarist - sure you've come to the right place. check a few pages back for some great links to some great lights. no need to go big bucks. i'm sure most of the troops are riding on 70 - 80 pounds of lighting and it's plenty sufficient. people will be sure to post you advice shortly

70-80 pounds in weight.. sweet jesus feel the burn! you must be causing a mass migration and re-distribution of moths around surrey with that kind of rig

  • Well I really liked my Dinotte until I put it on drunk one night and the batteries came out pulling the light with it. No damage to the light but the connector (standard 9V one) is a bit fucked and temperamental. If this was soldered back up I would love my Dinotte again. Uses 4xAA that sit under the stem. You'll see it tonight if we both make it.

    Looks like they're sold out.

  • Em - Vision Hope 1... 70 / 80 bucks
Reckon on brightness stage 1 or 2 out of a possible 4 you could just about get 7 / 8 hrs...

  • I've got a Dinotte too, but on regular beam it burn through 4 AA batteries in around 1.5 to 2 hours so you need to carry spare batteries with it.

Planet-X are introducing the light below which looks interesting, especially on burn time.

  • those Dinottes seem good but a lot of the TNRC are sponsored by Hope these days. i have actually just upgraded from the Vision 1 to these though

  • The only problem with the Hope that I've seen is that its very easy to forget the batteries. Eh jonny? ;p

    Jingle Jangle.
    No Doubt.
    Rollin' Deep.

(just watched the whole..."what's wrong with these kids? can't they just kick it!")

  • c'mon Greasy!
    you playing soccer instead ?

  • The only problem with the Hope that I've seen is that its very easy to forget the batteries. Eh jonny? ;p

haha, i'd forgotten about that. i am packing for tonight though - super heavy duty.

the good thing is we barely need our lights for a lot of the ride now. was certainly past the half way point before i lit my candles a couple of weeks ago.

  • oh, and great to see so many people down for this. should be an epic spin.

    No night ride, no talk.

  • @BMMF hahahaha

  • Oh dear i meant to attatch a bottle cage. Dammit.

  • Cheers guys.

There have already been two votes of confidence for the Hope Vision 1 so I think it'd be stupid to ignore that.

Scarlett has filled me in on his torches too.

  • I'll try to bring a long a spare set of AAs, even though i am quite sure mine don't need it.

I have a boy scout still in me...
