Hippy, can't help with a soldering iron, but the Roydon one is about 38 miles I think. Finished off at about 10:30 last time, so less than an hour in the dark and its not that dark with plenty of other good lights around.
On a different note, being directionally challenged getting out of London - anyone/groups riding up that I could tag along with again?

Good point, Des, I completely forgot about that as I confused the ride-out from last time with the non-existent ride out for this one, if that makes sense (it doesn't have to).
Unfortunately, I still don't know whether I'll be able to come, as I have the builders in owing to boiler failure last week, and they'll most likely work late, so I can't offer to organise a ride out. (I have already cancelled the feared meeting that of course came up.)

How long are these rides? My lights have issues at the moment* so I'm not sure about riding miles away from home holding the battery pack the whole way..
*who has a soldering iron and some soldering skill and wants to earn a tenner?
I have a 5 pound soldering iron from maplins and some solder. But I lack soldering skills unless you count covering everything in solder as a skill.
You're welcome to borrow it for free, Its in tuffnel park.Just realised that for less than a 10er you could just buy an iron + solder from maplins.

Yeah, I'll be leaving LSO St Luke's at 6.15pm again. I'm in recovery-overdrive mode, so if anyone shoots off on the way out or the way back, I won't be bridging the gap.

Great news see you at St Luke's, although your idea of recovery-overdrive mode is my idea of flat out mode so no worries there...

If I make it, that's where I'll try to catch you, too--perhaps bump into you there, claus. Unfortunately, I still don't know if I'll be able to make it.

dancing james - round trip of 80 miles. or ride out do the ride and train home = 60 miles
-
• #1098
So I deduct from that, the train out and ride back will be 60miles too?
-
• #1099
correctamundo but the train is empty on the way home so we try to encourage people to ride out if they can just to make life a bit easier at the station. tough luck on saturday by the way. didn't hear what happened but saw the result

In a nutshell:
- Saha got the quickest FA Cup goal ever, 25secs
- Chelsea players fell over at every opportunity
- Howard Webb was shite - see above
- We outnumbered and outsang the Chelsea fans
- They only made a noise at 85mins
- Not a bad game but we didn't create enough chances to win it
- Best team won
- Saha got the quickest FA Cup goal ever, 25secs
