How would everyone feel about putting a limit on team night (at least up until the Euros) so that we only allow one throw-in team? That way we can limit the practice to mostly full, existing teams (allowing one sub per team). If there is an overflow of people without a team, they will have to rotate in and out of the one throw-in team.
I can understand this as think it is reasonable but would anyone object to me forming a team for team nights so that I don't get excluded from participating in them properly.
I don't want to offend either my current team mates or anyone else with this
but team nights have a different level of play and if I get excluded by default from them it means I'm not getting to develop as a player.feel free to tell me to fuck off though.

I'll be down just after 6

Zoo, I think from Matt's suggestion you can make up the throw-in team, or sub in to any of the other teams that need you. That's mean you get to play every week, all be it with different team mates. Alternatively get your team mates to get down and play !

I'd love to play! However, as many of you can't make slackers (which haven't been happening much late, what happened to the recession?), I can't always make evening games. So, alas, I also have to miss out on the more competitive play.

slackers should happen on thursday for maxine's return from the colonies.

Hah! And guess what time I work on Thursday? I hate my job.

Ideally it would be an existing team you're on (league team or tourney team). But it seems fine to form a regular team for team nights. Or just always play on the throw-in team.
I'm just tossing this idea out there for you all to consider. The idea is to try and keep the games competitive by limiting the number of ad hoc teams.

I strongly disagree with the sentiment here. But as we've got loads of courts it shouldn't be a problem and us non-teams will just move on elsewhere.
It's a shame that a regular throw-in night has been usurped by a team night rather than the teams doing a different time/place. Broadway's lights are on till midnight wink.

go to broadway then.

Reasonable as ever, this is not polo.
(I've only been to one team night and have already been going elsewhere, gees.)

For those of us that are competing more and more it makes sense to have the team nights as competative as possible. We all want to get as good as possible so that we can progress further through tournaments.
It's obvious that the cities who play regular teams nights play better as teams. London would be stupid to not do the same.I salute you Vidal for putting it out here as organising secret games between those teams would have been a lot more underhanded but still provided the same effect.

Jono, i was being facetious.

Perfectly reasonable with league play on pause. Just a shame I keep missing them.

So where do the throw-ins happen on a Tuesday?
Can I be the third player in the throw-in team tonight? -
• #369
agree. I'm up for throw-ins at mitch if enough people want to come (Mike and Brian are not playing)
-
• #370
me and tony are in for 6, throwins or to form a team..

fa-who?
I'm ok with the team night in general, I just have to change my calendar to Mitch on Tuesday's now... toys, pram, thrown.
I do suggest a clearer line is drawn between team play and throw-in team play as it's not about staying in teams, but more about the level of competition and upping your game, right? (Otherwise the comment above about having one giant throw-in team each night doesn't make sense.)

Clearer line? You are in the "Polo team night" Thread…

What's your definition of existing teams?
Are you really saying that people from established teams can't play in other teams?
Just out of interest, there may be a team from west next week.

Its about teams getting to play together when they otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to, in order (hopefully) to collectively raise our games and represent, trouncing the rest of Europe over the course of this summer.
6 is good for me
