  • I'll be there about 6.30ish

  • I was in london earlier but i finished the job a lot earlier than expected and didn't want to wait for hours til polo so went home. can't really afford the train fare back, sorry
No worries got a few jobs to do around the house. Ta for letting us know.

  • Sirens are up for team games this wednesday @ mitch.

    other teams keen?

  • Bump

  • or if anybody wants to make up a team just for the one night?...

  • I will be in for it, Joe spikes too, waiting for Josh to reply. Out

  • oh dear, nobody? this is making me sad. boo.

  • Rich is coming down on Saturday, anyone want to sub in for Aidan, for some team games?

  • Maybe.

  • Maybe ;)

  • Definitely! Got the weekend off so up for polo Sat and Sun.

  • What time and where John? Cam has first dibs :)

  • i do play like sub

  • Not sure. I think there might be some team games going on tomorrow morning already, not sure if we can join in there or not.

I'm completely flexible as to when and where, and I think Rich is too, so it's really up to subs and opposition.

  • Can anyone play team games this weekend? Or is it just general throw ins? Really enjoy playing as a team, but it seems to always become a bit contentious to ask to play together in throw ins, so just wondering when/where to do them now that the league is over

  • Yep, so Rat Trap will be Rich, me, Cam tomorrow, happy to play team games wherever, with whoever.

If throwins are at Downs we can go to Mitch, and come back, or if there are team games going on, maybe we can join in, or if people are ok with us sitting out a shuffle to play a team game against a throwin team, whatever.

Happy to give Sirens some games as well.

  • Andy and Fin are staying the weekend so could we play as black stabbath too? Might have to work tomorrow now though :/

  • Los Conjones del Pulpo might be in. :)

  • Ok, Rich needs to build his bike with Ryan, so we probably won't be ready for team games until early afternoon.

I'll be in for throwins, if there are any before that.

Or if any teams need a sub, or if anyone wants to make a team with me and Cam, in the morning

  • The four of us can sub on/off as one team maybe? Non-playing coach stylee?

  • Jesus, let's just play throwins and work out the odd team game.

  • Annnnnd back into private it goes.

  • Ah bums, well I'd really like to practice with my B'ton team if I can, but throw ins is cool too.
Can when and where be made non private when it's sorted?

  • Cosmic, Spring Break and possibly Sirens and Rat Trap will be playing team polo from 9am tomorrow at Downs, I expect it'll be over at lunchtime? Or people could keep playing in teams all day if they wanted to? Joni you should come along, although 5 teams will be pushing it (I don't know if Sirens or Rat Trap are definites though).

Team polo should be the priority right now, but most of it goes on in private because of throw-ins being the "norm".

Many players are now voicing their frustrations at the lack of team polo and it's a shame that things end up being organised privately (as it fragments our community).

I'd like to see a dedicated team polo court on a certain day (days?), where any group of 3 is welcome to turn up, but individual players would have to wait for another two individual players to turn up before playing.

The current situation is that throw-ins are being abandoned by a few players in favour or private team games, this helps re-enforce the status quo and makes it difficult for newer teams to join in.

This probably needs it's own thread (we have one somewhere I think), it'd be nice to hear people's opinions.

Positives: No more secret polo? London teams get better? Easier (with less stigma) to organise team games?
Negatives: Some individual players may need to find team mates? Players that can only play at the weekends won't be able to play competitive throw-ins?

  • +1 to Jono.

There are some big tournaments coming up in the next 3 months, and I'm sure lots of teams, both top teams, and newer teams, want to practice as a team, I certainly do.

We have enough courts and players to have a throw in session going on at the same time now, and as Jono says, people are more than welcome to make one-off teams, or turn up and hope 2 more people turn up (or even rotate between 4 or 5 people).

In the end it's going to happen anyway, but it would be nicer, and easier for everyone if it's done in the open.
