  • I'm sorry, but while I absolutely respect the work that Scherrit et al do - bike fitting is not fucking rocket science for most normal people.

If you have injuries, or are a 24hr TT nut like Hippy, or have a bizarro body shape then fair enough, get fitted- but for the majority it's just overkill when doing a bit of basic measuring, followed by incremental adjustment over a period of time, will be absolutely fine. Provided you are not a complete moron.

  • bizarro body shape

    thats me then

  • I agree that it isn't rocket science for most normal people without injury, but that doesn't mean just having a punt at it will pay dividends.

Even a basic fit from a decent bike shop for ~£100 will give you a better position, much more quickly, and identify any problems that you haven't noticed much better than months and months of fiddling with positions and saddles and stuff.

I'm a loyal Scherrit-visiter, I'm going back soon and very excited about it, but I would recommend a bike fit for anyone.

This may have something to do with the fact that I don't trust my own appraisal in things, especially something as empirically measurable as cycling.

  • Try turning your bike the other way around so that the wheels turn clockwise.

  • I'm going to complicate things and suggest that this:

To me was a good starting point.

Learned I need a setback seatpost (never knew) but it feels better having seat more back wards and that a slight drop between saddle/bars is more comfy for me.

yes bikefits are always better if you have £200 lying around somewhere

    Amazing.

  • I'm such a child

  • thats me then

    you're just short.

  • ^^^ha

  • you're just short.

    No

  • ^ Quite right. 170cm is a perfectly respectable height

    for a girl.

  • ^^ classic little man

    ^classic big man

  • ^classic big man
Probably more vintage than classic :-)

  • Also I am forrin; 99.9% bikes arent made for my body type

  • Are you accusing bikes of being racist?!

  • borderline yes ; )
you should see (non indian) bikes on Indian bike forum; scoblestacks; flipped/adjustable stems .. the filth

  • I had to get an Italian classic frame. Dutch ones from the 70s (my native turfland) are always too tall.

    The shame :P

  • Indian bikes example:

  • I was told about a bike fitting place in Crystal Palace that also has (or is part of) a physio practice, which would be really useful for me crappy knees. Does anyone know who this or, better still, has anyone been there? There appear to be several fitters in and around Crystal Palace.

  • Indian bikes example:

    :(

It's technically perfectible possible to use smaller wheels...use 26" if needed for economy reasons...

I went through this website and was quite disappointed to discover that, setback seat post aside, my bicycle setup is almost exactly right

  • Indian bikes example:

Hideous! More of this please! :D

Why do you have to visit more than once?

  • Our body is always adapting, sometime it does required a second visit to get the position spot on.
