Check out his Instagram. Goes into great depth of what he is doing and why he does it. Also mobile so comes to you and has everything needed.

  • He is really nice guy

  • This looks really interesting, have you used him?

  • Looking to get a custom frame made, any suggestions where to get measured? I'm 6'7 and mostly leg, ideally they would have experience/knowledge of this end of the bell curve. Tried a RETUL before but I was too tall for the Müve bike. Thanks!

  • I seen him working and improving positions for few people (he been doing some bike fits in my local bike shop)
What is more important that he really cares. When my Parlee was build and we decided to go for integrated stem and handlebars he checked everything based on my bike fit (done not with him) and geometry of my bike.
Did that for free, been very helpful
That is my experience I can share

  • I'm using foundation fit next Friday to fit 3 bikes. Everything I've heard about him has been positive

  • I only have good things to say about Jimmy at Cyclefit in Soho. I ended up avoiding a custom build because he tracked the www and found a frame that fits me. A Cotic Escapade as it happens, which I also only have good things to say about. God. Clumsy sentence structure.

  • @mustardbeak he has helped me recently with my aerobar setup on road bike for long distance rides. We met through customer recommendations as one of his customers was also one of mine (I'm a mobile mechanic) and met at the start of January.

As David said above really nice guy and fit is very personal as it is his neck on the line so he tries his utmost.

  • I've found a frame that might work for me as a commuter / winter bike, Spa Audax, which I can use with a Condor Pioggio fork I already own.

Sherritt has fitted me on my Look 586 and by my reckoning I can get the same position on the Spa without too much fuss. Does this make sense?

The Spa has a 71º headtube and a 72.5º seatube, will it handle like a pig compared to my other bikes? (The Look and the SuperSix are racing machines, the Look handles perfectly).

  • Saw in the paper at the weekend that Boardman/Halfords are rolling out wind tunnel based bike fits for £200. They claim that a wind tunnel fit will shave 15 minutes off a 100 mile sportive.

My first question is whether there is any need for such a fit and whether it really helps anyone. Surely, unless you are a racer, comfort and avoidance of injury are the two and only two priorities for a bike fit.

Secondly, how can they do a decent fit for £200? Good fitters charge more without the wind tunnel.

  • That price does seem hard to believe. I guess it probably doesn't include shoes and cleats which is a fair chunk of the fitting process.

  • Maybe, unlike D2Z who share their tunnel I think with Mercedes, they will run it 100% on cyclists which means their tunnel time is less precious so they can chew through more riders on a given day or over the course of a year it works out for them.

Unless they have someone in there with a clue, it's going to mean a lot of normal fitters getting more work as all the riders with bad necks and sore hands, etc are looking elsewhere to fix their aero-optimised problems :)

  • Thanks for all the info everyone.

I'm going to give Foundation Fit a go, seems to have lots of good feedback, also i'm inherently lazy and he will come to me, which means I can get both road bieks done at the same time too.

  • Two bikes.

Bike A and Bike B, Bike A is the "race bike", Bike B is "endurance/MAMIL"

    Bike A Stack 546 Reach 385
    Bike B Stack 557 Reach 376

I prefer Bike B's numbers and even if I get Bike A I will replicate those with bar/stem/spacers.
Interestingly Bike B has shorter wheelbase (lol) because of shorter TT.

How can I interpret the diff in the two geometries into ride quality?

  • Don't endurance bikes typically lengthen the stays to provide a longer wheelbase for more stable handling?

    Use the force, amey.

Weirdly the 'endurance' one in this example has shorter wheelbase and same sized stays ..

    WHY @hippy?

  • I don't know. I hate bikes. I just pedal whatever is actually working at the time.

Same length stays to keep handling nimble enough but they've shortened it up front for MAMILwear SS18 Collection?

Thanks for confirming my doubts. MAMIL Wagon it is!

You can't ride a race bike with a baby-sized stem, that's just wrong. So get bike B (the shorter reach).

Also is 5mm difference in wheelbase really going to be perceptible?

  • Also is 5mm difference in wheelbase really going to be perceptible?

Who knows! Its weird that canyon did it the other way round hence the question.

The 'race' bike would have to be 100mm 'stem' with the aerocockpit, the 'endurance' will be 110mm.

  • Okay, well 100mm stem is not so bad. What do you want the bike to do?

  • I don't race. It replaces my road bike so summer/dry days/mountains.

  • If you've got a more upright position your weight tends to be further back. Longer chainstays or a shorter front centre helps maintain ideal weight distribution compared to a "race" bike. Handling, as in how quickly it turns into a corner is mostly to do with trail, and wheelbase doesn't come in to it as much. Shorter wheelbases do feel a bit more agile at steering round potholes at slower speeds though, but think trail still has more effect.

  • Slightly off-topic, but fit related...

Someone I know is doing a research project on bike-fit related pain/injury and they're running a survey to collect data. I made a thread with more details if anyone's interested/has extra feedback.
    Thanks in advance!
