As @umop3pisdn says, Oxonian have a 50 on the 9th of August of the H50/17.
A month before IM wales and 10 minutes from home... maybe I should enter.

hopefully I don't need a mega fast course then!
only need 1 minute 56 seconds, which is a lot compared to your 12 seconds, but I still don't think its much in the larger scale of things...

Cranks: 11 speed, BB30, 165mm, £100/£150-ish?
There's a pair of Vision Trimax in the classifieds (a shorter version of what they're replacing), but with shipping from Hungary and PP fees on top, they're starting to look a bit pricey.

I need to pull my finger out and do a 50. My 100 PB is 1.15mph faster! Did a 1:58:50 for the first 50 of the 100.

the maidenhead website it says there is a Combine 50 on the 28/06 but I cant find it on the CTT website - any hints about how to enter?
You can't enter it unless your club is affiliated to the West London Combine, and you wouldn't want to as it's on the H50/4 which is nothing to write home about. Go for the WLCA one on July 12th, the H50/1 is at least as fast as the H50/8.

11 speed, BB30, 165mm, £100/£150-ish?
SRAM Rival 22 is available in that price range, compact only. The problem is finding anybody with 165mm in stock.

Tester's Tandem finally got an outing tonight on the H10/2, piloted by Tester and stoked by me. Very interesting experience. 21:54 which a course best for both of us currently.

Awesome, want a go!

lejog tandem record lookout...
-
• #9540
Amazing.
How fast would you go if you improved it's aerodynamics?
-
• #9541
Are you calling tester fat?
-
• #9542
Nope.
But those wheels could be improved for a start.
-
• #9543
I'm not really sure. Aerodynamic changes will obviously have much less impact on w/CdA compared to a solo machine, but there would obviously be some gains to be had. More riding time together should yield some gains, it was a reasonably cautious first run. Optimum would be something like this, but i'm not sure either of us are ready for aerobars without a bit more practice.
There's at least two tandem crews out there this year chasing records.

Raltecs on the rear would be an easy addition. Hed 3 is the standard tandem front wheel. Hed GT3 would be nice if either of us win the lottery.
But I doubt we'll get to that point of optimisation. I suggested the F11/10 for a crack at sub 20, but Tester wasn't keen. Would require a ~70t chainring as well.

I could think of nothing worse than nuzzling in the middle of an extreme effort.

That's from a 100, he was in that position for 3 hours and 29 minutes.
Good thing about being the stoker is you don't have to worry about steering, I spent quite a bit of time with my eyes screwed up closed ignoring the pain (I didn't pace last night well at all).
It would be really interesting to put my powertap on there...

Went for 22mm Veloflex Records from acycles (£52 each)
-
• #9548
Ungh.
But then you have to trust the other person to steer and brake?DO NOT WANT DOG.
-
• #9549
What gear were you guys pushing?
-
• #9550
64/17, 100". Middle ground between what we'd normally run solo, me a bit higher Tester a bit lower.
WLCA H50/1a later in the year. Not mega fast but alright. Think there might be one on the Kingston Bagpews Oxford course, not sure.
