I thought you'd be all over that. You're not exactly scared of testing some weird and wonderful solutions :)
I've thought about using a mirror or similar on the bars so I could get my head down. Not sure it's even legal though?

Google View Speed glasses, some guy in America obviously thinks they're a good idea!! Head down riding in CTT events is illegal, so I think it would be immaterial if you had a mirror or not.
If I really stick my head down and get it as low as possible (without the helmet tail sticking up) it's less aero for me anyway
-
• #8454
That's what the photo is of!
Really? Head down without tail is less aero? That doesn't make sense to me. Stupid air.
-
• #8455
Lol - am on my phone, I thought that was a tag off the front rather than the mirror!
For me there's a tipping point, it'll depend on the rider and their position + helmet

I'm sure I'm faster with my head down (rough guess based on watching speedo on clear descents) but it's too risky to ride like that most of the time.

Haven't heard anything about the H10/2 combine, so I assume I'm not in so first race is Maidenhead hilly on the 21st.

Just rock up and ask for a number, no? Or can you ring the organiser to get a spot?
Worst case, you'll get to watch me suffer for (hopefully less than 26min) from the sidelines. Okay, that is a pretty bad case.. -
• #8459
Emailed the organiser but didn't hear back. Might bimble down that way and watch.

Most of my TT entries are late and usually involve some kind of begging over the phone along with promises to email this or that and post the other..
This one was easy being in the combine, Mick from WCC just emails asking for victims.

Hmm.. does that apply to mine? Mine are all carbon, save for the aero stem.

"Applies to Shivs from 2012-2015
Both Carbon and Aluminum Aerobars. "Sweet! New bars
Wait.. "excluding the Shiv TT and Shiv framesets"
Confused.

They are talking about "extension clamp bolt" breaking - do they just mean the single elbow pad bolt because there are 'two' extension clamp bolts. If they are talking about just the arm rests then I swapped mine out for Zipp ones last year.

Sweet! New bars
Didn't you get TriRig Alpha for this year?
By the look of it, there's going to be a small component in the clamp replaced, not the whole bar.
-
• #8467
Yeah, but I need to fuck about with the TriRig whereas this is just 'free stuff'.
How do you know it's a component replacement - Mike Cote says replacing the bolt is NOT a solution and the bars need to go back.

Yes!LFGSS.CC is finally CTT affiliated, but the club isn't shown when you try and enter on-line.~~Need to scan and post my entry together with a cheque as entry closed last night, but ~~
Darren is holding a place for me.Anyone seen my chequebook? No.
Whether I get the train or ride there, I'd have to get up at something like 5 o'clock: not happening.
-
• #8471
what's a cheque book?
-
• #8472
nice one, im entered as a veloschils rider - i wont be riding fixed here though, no experience of the course.
-
• #8473
no experience of the course.
Me neither.
And I haven't swung a leg over a bike in a month.
Which reminds me I need to build something.
What could possibly go wrong?
-
• #8474
Shiv TT's are ok, it is only the dodgy Tri ones that break...
-
• #8475
UCI legal >>>
Ah right - yeah I'll just try and sort my contacts out I reckon :D
