thehippy.net doesn't shed any light. From there:
circuit timekeeper Marion Fountain reported that Birnie finished the 12 hour time trial
looking stronger than most riders do at the end of a 10.Yeah, well, not a big deal to ride two hours longer than a ten-hour TT, right? :)

Last post from Scherrit was somewhere in Somerset.

• #7506
Good luck if he's going for it!

There's no Notice of Attempt on the RRA site, so I'm guessing whatever they are up to down there is preliminary reconnaissance.
-
• #7508
Yes, Scherrit has clearly stated it is recon.

Correcto. Just a nice long ride on a fast bike in comfy, comfy skin suit.

Bristol, Average speed 18.5mph so far.
Or 201 miles in 11hrs. -

Any updates on hippy?

I am a big gear convert for fixed TT.

Finally got a reasonable figure for CdA. Course best by a good margin. All in all, a good evening.

Just that it seems as though power drops away at high cadence, but not at low cadence. Therefore it's better to go uphill at 60rpm than it is to do 130 down the other side. In other words, gear for the fast parts of the course, not the slow parts. 104'' tonight on a reasonably sporting course where I would usually run nearer 94''.
Obvs this is all for me, ymmv etc.

Ah, when you wrote "big gear" I thought you meant big sprockets.
"...gear for the fast parts of the course, not the slow parts..." is quite the opposite of my, very limited, experience: I don't recover downhill, what I lose uphill.
The fact you're half my age-ish, is likely a factor though...
[insert YMMV caveats etc]

You might be trying to ride up those uphills at 450+ watts though, which means you need the downhill to recover... #buyapowermeter

@mdcc_tester , do you know the difference between the H25/2 and the H25/2a?
-
• #7521
H25/2 is the ski slope, 2A is approximately 2 laps of the H10/2. I have a feeling it turns once at Charvil and once at Twyford, but I don't have the full course details to hand.

Sounds grizzly.

• #7523
How big?

• #7524
Told you ;)
What was the CdA?

0.20-0.21.
That design is sooo unflattering.
