It is time to move up to 25s though. I've got an Alden BTA bottle mount on the way
Most people don't bother with a bottle in a 25, but it's a handy thing to have when you step up to 50.

Lol - bit of Googling and there's a book result saying ~49km. Makes sense, it's about a 2-3km difference indoor/outdoor on typical tracks
-
• #7054
Yeah just found that. I actually own the book...
-
• #7055
You gonna have a crack Xav? I'll hand you up bottles ;)
-
• #7056
Haha I think 49km is a bit out of my reach :D I can probably do 45-46km at Aldersley, I was thinking of having a go there once I find out what the record is.
One of my clients last year broke a National 100km outdoor velodrome record, a bonkers thing to have as an official record, no bottles allowed on the bike either.

There's a 100km 'drome record? What did they do that in?

You know the 24-Hour track record is something like 903km? Marko Baloh did 4500 or so laps of a 250m track! What a fucking headcase!
-
• #7061
890km outdoor record too..
-
• #7062
That's absolutely bananas, feeding must have been crazy. I did a 138km scratch race at Forest City Velodrome in Canada once, I was chucking up from the g-forces after a 53kph attacks, was mad.
TBH, the London Olympic velodrome hasn't had an attempt yet, that's ripe for the picking if someone wants a track record there! Only problem is the £500/hr booking fee or whatever it is

I wonder if RPM can get us a discount..

890km outdoor record too..
You're not too far off that with 834k, are you?
-
• #7065
890.4km could be done with 0.215 CdA and 187w

We have a new record: 25.073 miles.
This may seem modest, but I know it wasn't all that easy.
Our man rode like clockwork: it almost was literally clockwork, because Rob had a cadence meter and knew that he had to keep his rate just above 100 rpm. He did this and achieved the desired 25mph. There was less drama than last time, but nevertheless I'm sure it hurt, and that 25 mph on a basic bike, on the track, is a lot harder to do than the same speed on the road on a modern machine.
So far as any lfgss hour attempts go, I suggest that it would be more democratic to specify that an open air track should be used. This is simply because indoor tracks are going to be expensive and these records should be open to as many people as possible.
I will be doing a report on Rob's ride which will include pictures. I'll get this to you as soon as I can.

Or I could do it with CdFAT and MOAR POWAH!

I went mental when they told me I had to do another one of the dog-leg circuits during the Mersey Roads. Doing 890k around a velodrome would send me over the edge.
At least I wouldn't get lost though.

Look forward to it, clubman.

890km outdoor record too..
Erm, doing it with gears doesn't count surely?
-
• #7072
It's an outright record, not a track record per-se and don't call me Shirley.

I haven't got the official times yet, but it looks as though I took 1m37s off my 10 mile PB this evening - 25m35s to 23m58s. Quite glad I didn't go for the 25 mile option - it started raining towards the end of my ride, started bucketing it down during my warm down, and by the time I was taking my race number off (sitting in the car) the rain was (1) torrential (2) horizontal (3) enlivened by lots of thunder and lightning.
I suspect the wind (headwind on the way out, tailwind on the way back) picked up during the ride, but don't tell anyone...
Goo work. Is that on a road bike with clip ons or a TT bike?

For an upright. I think the full on outdoor HPVV 24 hour track record is something like 1234km.

Official time was 24m01s. Oh well, there's always next week to beat the 24 minute mark.
Good stuff Daniel. Dibs all the old bits you upgrade from.
Ah, they're all earmarked for other things. The current wheels will go on the UK road bike (3rd best), and I'm assuming you're not after the shorts which will be replaced by the skinsuit? ;)

TT bike. This one:
