  • Ed, you should buy my disc

  • lol, too many options!

  • Germans with their Germanisms--'you have to go full gas'. ("Du mußt Vollgas geben.")

  • Vollgas is a small town just south of Heidelberg. Lots of pros go there for training.

    "Go Vollgas.. "

  • You're probably thinking of the Vollgas Clinic in Freiburg where the T-Mobile team used to go.

  • If I want to do the maidenhead Thursday 10 tt as a three up (next week) do I need to do anything other than turn up with my other riders

Try to finish with them too :-)

For a 3-up, the counting time is that of the third rider.

  • It was a bit if a battle but when we got to hare hatch he told me he was stopping so I didn't have much choice but to continue on my own!

Will have another go next week and do shorter turns and I'll try to keep a steady pace throughout, oh and hopefully man 3 will turn up!

  • my reason for considering the clinchers is really fixability on the fly, a friend got a puncture at lanzarote earlier in the year, pitstop didn't work and he waited 30 minutes for help from the neutral service, which ruined his day...

Surely it's quicker to change a tub than an inner tube?

When I was using tubs I would always carry a spare, and that was the usual practice.

Although I still have some tubs I very rarely use them. They make even a crap bike feel good, but they are a lot of trouble. Even with expensive tubs there can be a problem with getting the tyre perfectly seated, and it's not uncommon to get slight lump at the valve. I don't think the weight penalty is too serious in a time trial.

  • Skinny 24th in the Elite men and also in the Under 23 men his Team mates Lawrence 6th, Henry 15th and Ashley 21st TT Results

  • Amazing work Skinny!

  • Chapeau, but y u no sharkpits?

  • Well done James!

Either that is very steep, or Bryan was in the process of falling over.

  • At Wednesday evening's TT, a few people were talking about an open 25 that was happening at some point in July (maybe a wednesday) on the "Tring course" that seems to have become popular recently.

From the snippets of overheard conversation it sounded like one of the few remaining 25s that I might be able to make this year and so I was trying to find it on the CTT website. However I don't know either the date or the course code which makes it tricky. Does anyone know what course people might have been talking about?

  • Tring is a fast 10 course, but I have a feeling the corresponding 25 course gets no entrants due to being rubbish. There are at least a couple of Saturday afternoon 25s on the H25/8 you can enter, maybe some Sunday mornings too.

  • This or this?

I don't think it's either of those. looking at google maps I'd guess that it's on the A41 rather than the A1. Incidentally, I planned an entire weekend around racing that Ickneild event and then when I got round to trying to enter it, it turns out that it had been cancelled months ago despite still being listed on the CTT website... mildly irritating!

Hmmm ok. Do you know the course code for the Tring 25? It looks like the 10 is F11/10, does that mean the 25 would be F11/25? I'm travelling most of July/August so there are very few 25s left that I can realistically make. Still, as you say there are loads on the H25/8 so I'll likely be coming down again at some point.

Stand ready for a couple of questions on home-spun aero testing protocols. I've got 3x40minute intervals this weekend and since Xav pointed out that my aeros were shit I figured I'd have a play. I'm just googling for possible circuits I might be able to use.

  • A41 based 25 course is F13/25, doesn't share any part of the road with the F11/10

  • OK cheers, There aren't any more races on the F13/25 this year so I can only assume that the folks were talking about the upcoming 10 on the F11/10 on the 16th July. I'm not convinced it's worth the extra drive to the F11/10 course when I can race on the H10/181 on the same evening. Although the H10/181 is possibly slower than the F11/10 course it's more convenient and I've ridden it 10+ times so there is more scope for comparison of times.

  • F11 is worth the trip for a trophy time, since it's clearly faster, but you might want to save that for when you're stuck on a low 22::xx on the 181 and desperate for a 21 :-)

  • looking at the times I could do both :-) The F11/10 is at 1330 and the H10/181 1930.

  • 16th July on the F11 is VTTA members only, which rules out you teenagers.

  • What age is Vets? 40? Time for a Masters age group..
