Err, someone has hacked Hippy's account?

I didn't even know you could get 140mm cranks
Mini BMX cranks, there are quite a few available.

Disappointing today. 25:20. I'd taken the aero clip ons off. I know where I lost it too..

Told you you should have ridden the A10/19, 21:32 pb despite stopping and unclipping at one of the 6 roundabouts.
-
• #6282
Jesus that's fast. On your fixed rig?
I don't even...
(I'm secretly hoping for fastest road bike- but I think I got beaten by 1 person).
And A10/19 is just too far away at the moment. When I work in Derby though... -

That stop probably cost you the chance to eclipse my PB, but it's only a matter of time.

Eurgh, just look at that chunky base bar and parachute of a brake. Kickstarter to buy me some R1s and an Omega?

mmm, but what bike was yours set on (and course, out of interest)?

Rourke Lo-Pro, with Tribars and double spoks. I think it was probably geared 53/12-18. H10/11, on the A34 south of Oxford, on a Saturday afternoon.

Was on 103'' tonight. Wouldn't have wanted to be much slower on it, think my lowest cadence was about 67.
-
• #6288
I'm mostly confused because on Saturday I managed to ride a very similar course faster... On the last laps of race pace training, in my own little breakaway.
-
• #6289
Obviously tonight was a very slow night, which is why I didn't do a 20 and you a 23.
-
• #6290
Ha. I think its mentality and laziness on my part. And this one part of the course.

Don't think it exists any more, no? I've not seen any TTs on the A34, although I did almost kill some loon riding under the Botley interchange at night without lights sometime around Christmas.
Also, well done upside-down and eyebrows!

No, traffic counts killed off the A34 courses.
-
• #6293
I just read the TTF thread about them. Sorry for the rider that died there but having lived there or there abouts almost all of my life I can see why they don't use it anymore.
-
• #6294
I'm not sure that the traffic count restriction has made TTing safer, but it has certainly made it fairer. Back in the day, some of the fast people wouldn't bother to start on the A34 if they were on the first half of the start sheet, because the late starters got so much of a tow from the heavier traffic that you pretty much couldn't win a prize off a start number lower than 60.
-
• #6295
Not that I have a lot of practical experience in the matter, but I'd guess that pure traffic counts are a reasonably poor measure of road safety. Still, I suppose they are comparatively easy to conduct and I don't know if I can think of a better alternative.
If I didn't bother to start races I didn't think I could win I wouldn't start many races :-)

Those two seem to swap places as each lowers the price of the remaining 5700 series in anticipation of the arrival of 5800. It doesn't help those of us who bought in at £100 to keep pointing that out :-(
-
• #6298
can you not return them and buy them again at a cheaper price?
or have you now fitted them?
-
• #6299
Marginally cheaper here...

Hi, Lea Valley is a bit crap with social media- but we do have a face book page for the Tens
Yes, we are back @ the Velopark from the 13th
First rider off @ 7
Sign on from 6.30 ish.We had our test event last weekend and need to work out the finer details of using the Velopark for TTs. This is mainly about having space to sign people on, track safety etc. It's not the same as riding at Hog Hill or the old Eastway.
I rode the course for the 1st time @ the weekend. Rideable on a fixed unlike Hogg Hill.
Is it possible to just turn up and ride this or does it require registration / British Cycling membership etc?
Tester will be on to reccomend the 105 5700 crankset at about £80.
