Anyone moved to 165mm cranks on their TT bike and lived to tell the tale?
-
• #6253
Why would you do that?
Scarlett used to TT on 165, I'm pretty sure he rides short cranks on all his bikes.

Me - open up hip angle. Other people - more aero, slightly lighter.

NikB uses 165mm, afaik.
I rode a TT on 140mm cranks once, and I'm still alive.

I think they might be just that custom-milled crank arm from the study? I know we have 150 mm ones on the Rollapaluza kids bikes, and I think GB track team have a couple of them at least to practice high cadence stuff.
I'm sorely tempted to try the shorter cranks for my road bike, I'm guessing I could just put a 3/32" chaining on my On-One track cranks?

Meh, I just moved to 170mm cranks on my track bike. Eff all difference as far as I can tell - marginally better for standing starts, but that's probably all the strength work I've been doing. Who knows. These gains are far too marginal for me to bother with currently.

Strength work >>>Back to my 165s. Anyone got a set of compact yes compact 165s I can haz? What's the best bang for buck Shimano compact crankies?

But I'm still running my TT corncob and this is for the long shit so chainline/cadence is more important than bollock diameter in this case.

Oh and the 'cross bike I have in Poland has a compact.
Hi, Lea Valley is a bit crap with social media- but we do have a face book page for the Tens
Yes, we are back @ the Velopark from the 13th
First rider off @ 7
Sign on from 6.30 ish.
We had our test event last weekend and need to work out the finer details of using the Velopark for TTs. This is mainly about having space to sign people on, track safety etc. It's not the same as riding at Hog Hill or the old Eastway.
I rode the course for the 1st time @ the weekend. Rideable on a fixed unlike Hogg Hill.
