Before hippy comes along and makes my efforts look insignificant, I did 2:11:53
Oddly, that is almost precisely the speed he needs to do to get his 273 miles (50 in 2:11:53 is 272.968 in 12h)
Good ride, bang on prediction.

Before hippy comes along and makes my efforts look insignificant, I did 2:11:53. Pretty satisfied because I beat a lot of folk who regularly beat me by a minute or so on the club 10s. The 'about halfway split' was 1:07:01 which meant I had a comparatively strong finish too.
Very windy on legs 1 and 3 made pacing difficult.
Watching tejvan pettinger do 1:48:51 was pretty impressive too!
Well done. Tejvan is an absolute beast...

Bugger.

No way! Sounds as close as the distance between first and second. Must have been a cracking atmosphere there.

CTT says 271.6miles
Sorry hips. Sucks!

12hr PB, power PB but the fucking wind cancelled out all my new fangled aero benefits.
That ECCA course can do one >>>
I really don't think 3 weeks was enough for me to recover properly post-24hr and now I've probably dug myself into a deeper hole so the Welsh 12 won't work for me either.
Stupid stacked long distance calendar.
Grr, etc.

I didn't speak to him myself, but apparently Ultan thought that yesterdays event was way too close to the 24 for him to be recovered in time for it.
Is there a 12 hour event left this year that you could do, or is it into next year now?

Ooof, I'm sorry to hear that. Bad luck.
The wind on the 50 was stiff too, strait headwind on the way out (I averaged 34.2km/h and 33.6km/h) and tail on the way back (39.6km/h and 39.3km/h). With the following wind, I apparently managed a 23:27 for 10miles just towards the end!!

Totally understand that you're disappointed... Nevertheless a very formidable effort, particularly considering a mere 3 weeks recovery period. Well done!

Performance looks decent next to the top blokes, just unlucky with the conditions dragging everybody down by 10 miles.

The Welsh and Kent 12s are on Sept 1st. They may be possible but I'm not sure I'll be recovered physically and I'm not sure the mental focus will be there for another long one. I would've just quit this one and saved myself for Wales if I wasn't so close to the stupid record for the whole time.

Record will still be there for you to take next year, sounds like that without the wind you'd have got it yesterday so you know (conditions being well) that you can get it if you can re-create your current form.

Yeah I should be happy but I'm sure I can produce more power for the time and I know conditions could be better. Quite a few unseeded riders in the top 10 and quite a few DNFs.
I saw one guy being attended to by ambulances. Need to find out what happened and if he's ok and Topham passed me only for me to pass him back while he was squirting stuff into his tyres. He passed me again and then I passed him once more - not sure what he was doing - maybe calling his team for a spare wheel or bailing? I didn't see him again.

Tops bailed after the second puncture, realised he wasn't going to better the 296 he already has in the bag.
Apparently 2 people went down, one on his own and one with the help of a car. The latter is in hospital with broken ribs but is not in danger.

Depends if I try and defend the 24 next year. All the 12s are stupidly after it which basically means they become an afterthought. If I focused on BBAR and ditched the 24 I'm sure I'd be a lot faster at 100s and the 12s. At least I know not to bother with a 12 if it's 3 weeks after the 24 unless conditions are perfecto. 12hr record is my new nemesis.

Good to hear he's going to be ok. I wondered if there was a car involved. I saw the bloke and some stopped cars, ambo and police and he looked 'ok' but you can't really tell from riding past.
I think I'm pretty decent at hanging onto a TT bike and riding in a straight line but even I was going for the start bars at points yesterday. I barely contacted my team because it was too risky letting go of the bars so I missed some stuff that might've helped. Oh and 4 fucking complete stops at red lights fuck you very much Cambridge!
