So all that training meant an improvement of just 38 miles? Was it worth it?
The margin between winning and losing is often a fraction of an inch

38 miles sound like the average distance a person "ON HERE" can do in one day.

I don't think I've ridden that far in one go this year.

That quite a few tubs of Ben & Jerry's.
Did you weigh yourself before and after?
Not really. Hydration was decent so weight was probably 'ok'.
Couple of kilos down now maybe though it only shows on my face and arms - my legs are actually really puffy from damage. -

Congrats Hippy

Yeah, just the 38. I'll have Wilko's record next yeah though so that's something nice to look forward to.

Quality not quantity, yeah?

My Powertap said 520 but I'd taken a few wrong turns so knew it would be less than this. Ultan and I were separated by mere minutes for the entire race - it was a pretty epic battle if I do say so myself. We pushed each other to the limit. I can barely walk, he seemed OK though I'm sure tomorrow will be 'fun'. Great event with cool supporters and riders.
Congratulations!
500+ is phenomenal.

No, but there is a #capnothat
you're gonna need a bigger cap
Bloody Aussies, coming over here, nicking our trophies.

Amazing ride and if that is really on for next year you are mad. In a good way.

I don't know you Hippy, but feel obliged to add my gobsmacked congratulations to you! This is as much a mental feat as it is a physical one. Chapeau indeed!!

No chance. I know I could go further still than I did this year but it's too much time and effort in training, there's no guarantee the weather will be any good and it's an all your eggs into one basket kind of equation with the 24 - you don't usually get a second chance (although there'll probably be two next year).

1000+ then. Got to be over 1000.

The night circuit when Wilko set the record was a bastard. Indications are that the 2014 course is much flatter, so I wouldn't completely discount Hippy taking it on. Still, an extra 1mph will require perfect conditions.

Really? Is 2014 on a different course?
Don't do it hippy.. don't do it.

Well, if it's on an easier course, it wouldn't really count as a record, would it? ;)

• #4846
Yes, all East Sussex, so no crossing the county twice and no climbing up from Small Dole 6 times

I can't wait to let the team know about this...

What is TSS?

Training Stress Score- how hard you worked during a ride.
It's very roughly calculated as a percentage of your FTP (Functional Threshold Power), which is your maximum 1 hour output in watts.
So, if for example your FTP was 300 watts and you went out for an hour and average 150 watts then your TSS would be ~50, although that is grossly oversimplifying things.
The intensity of the ride also figures as part of the calculation, as you might have averaged 150 by repeated 600 watt sprints, then coasted, or you might have just done a steady state 150 watts for the hour etc etc.
