Thank you, 90 secs is roughly what I was guessing at too.
I think it's useful to look at times retrospectively and ponder what you could (or did) do to improve. In this weeks case if I apportion c.90seconds to having to use the road bike then that still gives me about another 90 seconds to wonder about. Some of this is probably down to forgetting my HTFU but I'm nervous that my hip (which has recently been dodgy when running) was somehow slowing me down even though it wasn't causing any pain.
Probably best just to pretend Wednesday didn't happen and then try again next week.

One bottle or two tomorrow?

One should be OK, we'll be finished before it gets properly hot. Drink plenty from when you get up to when you leave the HQ so that you're starting fully hydrated.

I always knock back 2 pints withing 10mins of waking up. 1 by bed, 1 from bathroom tap while washing face. You wake up de-hydrated. Super important to get water right away.

Little bit worried that I might prefer 50s to 25s. I hope I don't end up like Hippy.

Still quite a way to go before you become a fat alcoholic midget-botherer.

What is this bollocks? Pedal reflectors? I have Speedplay. Does anyone know the law?

Riding a 12 or 24 hour event?
All competitors beware!
It is a legal requirement to use appropriately fitted pedal reflectors and also a rear reflector (which may be incorporated into a rear light) when riding in the dark (ie between sunrise and sunset).
The onus is upon the rider to obey the law.*
CTT will supply reflective ankle bands (available at Signing-on) for your use during the event. Please return this to the organiser once you have finished your ride. Please note that these are supplied as a safety aid only. They are not supplied as a substitute for pedal reflectors or a rear reflector.*

Legally if you ride on the road you're meant to have at least 8 (IIRC) reflectors on the bike.

Got fined for not having pedal reflectors. The same police man failed to notice that I was riding brakeless... WTF?

The last time I checked, 'the dark' was between sunset and sunrise, but what do I know. :)

I've read the original RVLR, and it specifically says pedal reflectors. On the TT forum it has been suggested that ankle bands are an acceptable alternative, but if that's true it must be in an amendment I haven't read yet.
The RVLR (Schedule 20 part 1) says that there is *no specified size * for pedal reflectors, as long as they are amber and there is one on the front and rear of each pedal (4 in total) you should be good. My reading of that (unless it has been superseded by amendment) is that some small strips of amber retroreflective tape stuck to your pedal would meet the legal requirement. That would work for those of us with proper pedals :-)

Well, not strictly; it isn't fully dark until some time after sunset, and it gets light before sunrise.

Nonsense, the Earth is flat, after all.

Would self-adhesive reflectors on the front and rear of the shoe not be better due to the shoe obscuring line-of-sight to the pedal body?
-
• #4674
Better, but not legal.
Actually, tape on the pedals wouldn't be legal either, because the reflectors have to be BS stamped

SM-PD58 reflector that comes with OEM SPD-SLs is available aftermarket, could probably be adapted pretty easily to Keos too. Speedplay users will find yet another reason to rue their foolishness

My PB on O'Shane's local 10 course was about 24:30. Could probably have gone quicker but I don't have the attention span for TTs. Am also more of a sprinter.
