  • Awesome, thank you!

  • Nice to see your car getting into the pics :0)

  • Looks like my first TT of the year is going to be a wet one on Thursday. Bike is unchanged from last year and with all the commuting I've been doing I should be able to crack out a long 24min

  • My report on the Ron Brown Memorial 100 can be read here:

    http://ukcyclesport.com/results/time-trial/item/8724-ron-brown-memorial-100-2013

I have a couple more pictures which I'll post shortly.

    Good result for hippy there.

  • hippy? that fat prick needs to know what a chequered flag looks like.

  • true facts.

  • When's your next one?

  • Hippy, about to sweep past no.27 on the climb after The Hen & Chickens.

Yes, I think it was a good result for Hippy, even though it must be a bit disappointing to get so near to being sub four hours and yet still not quite there. Still, look at the trajectory. An improvement of over a quarter of an hour on his qualifying time: if he can maintain that rate of improvement he'll soon be near comp record!

His 25 and 50 times were 59.44 and 1.59.59. which show excellent judgement of pace. Perhaps some one who can do a good 24 just sees the 100 as a speed event.

  • Pretty much that. I did no specific training for the 100. In fact, I'd skipped two weeks of speed work as I was in Poland riding a slightly ill-fitting CX bike over some hills. :)

I'm thinking of using the Icknield 100 next week as a training race rather than trying for sub-4hr. Ride out, race and ride back will be quite a long day on the bike if I manage it..

Thanks for the pic, clubman. Sorry I was a bit grumpy to have a chat afterwards. I'm still shaking my head at screwing up the finish.

I didn't really notice that you were grumpy, but you are allowed to be after riding a 100.

As to the Icknield, I recommend going for a p.b., at least if the weather forecast is any good.

The F1 is a fast course, better than Farnham -Alton, (watch out for those dangerous spearpoint junctions though) - you'll really be grumpy if you screw up a good day on a good course!

    Good luck anyway.

  • Very impressive ride Hippy. I saw Dominic Hill did 3:51. Didn't know that he monstered TTs as well as tearing people to pieces at the velodrome.

    +1
If you're going to pin a number on, get your money's worth. You can do a 200 mile training ride another day.

  • Hmm, I'll need to have a look at the course and maybe the weather to make my mind up. Right now I'm still shagged so even 30min on the turbo was a real chore.

I'm off at 6am so it won't be as fast as starting later will it? Or will it? Less traffic but possibly also less wind?

What's a spearpoint junction? Is it a merge lane where traffic joins the main road from the left?

  • What's a spearpoint junction? Is it a merge lane where traffic joins the main road from the left?

    Yes

  • Ah, no problemo then, I bounce off cars coming out of them all the time on the A413, A40, etc.

  • Fucking ctt site. Why are you such an arsehole to log in to?

Does anyone know who I should contact if I can't log in?

  • Are you logging in to the right system? If so, and it fails, it would probably be easier to create a new registration than to get CTT to do anything.

  • ended up creating a new user - event was full anyway. FML

  • When's your next one?

week today - Westerley 10 at Hillingdon. Hopefully my body will have HTFU by then.

  • Make sure you count the laps.. I've done a few 11mile TTs on that circuit. :S

  • I'm rubbish at that, I try to count inner circle laps and never get past 5. I'm just going to stare at my Garmin.
What's the course like there by the way?

  • Bumpy and windy usually. So any time you do on that you will beat on a drag strip somewhere else.

  • :-/

  • It's still good fun and convenient for westies.

  • Prepare to stop dead on the top once you come round the left hander if it's windy.
