  • I definitely recommend testing fuelling strategies in training.

What gels have you tried? Why do you not get on with them?

Lots of types and they give me the shits.

    You asked ;)

The only thing that I've found that don't are nak'd ginger bread bars, not that I need them whilst doing a 10 per se but the gap between lunch at 12 and 8 was too long for what I had last week!

Hope to put some of my lessons learnt into practice this week!

  • First TT of the year done.

H10/18 in 25:47, and I'm now proudly at the bottom of the forum BAR*.

Not been training on the bike for the last 2 years, just the occasional pootle, so will hopefully improve.

EDIT: A quick strava check reminds me that I was also brought to a dead stop by traffic at the turn. That said it probably wouldn't have affected my placing.

  • Hah - missed the turn on the TT last night and added 4 miles to an 8mile TT..... doh!

In other news the bike ( http://www.lfgss.com/thread107110.html ) felt good and the disc wasn't nearly as sketchy as I thought in the highish winds

  • Lots of types and they give me the shits.

Hmm. . they have the opposite effect on me but I have iron guts.

I guess then you will need to try some food alternatives until you find something that works. Bars, sandwiches, nanas, trail mix, etc.

  • Is the event on the F11/10 on the 15th June full? Online entry isn't letting me enter it.

  • What's it doing?

    Call Organiser?
    Paul Thomson
    Tel: oh 7973 67505 two

  • Only giving me the option to enter the W+J one, of which I am neither. I'll give him a bell.

  • Anyone else doing the tt on h10/2 this evening?

I'll be there on a blue trek (and maybe a livestrong wristband)

  • I am, on a red continuum track bike with the world's ugliest extensions bodged onto it. Are you riding out?

  • No afraid not will be there from about 7.20 though and you're welcome to leave stuff in my car if you like.

  • Only giving me the option to enter the W+J one, of which I am neither. I'll give him a bell.

Not sure if the online system is this clever, but if he already has a full field from online with better qualifying times than yours, it might stop you from entering. If you're calling him, he'll probably already have a good idea of what it's going to close on, so you can probably save yourself the cost of a stamp. From indications on ttforum, it's quite possible that you won't get into an event on that course unless you have already done <22:00.

  • Yeah, they've certainly been going crazy for it lately.

  • Please note there was an error in my preview, and potentially quite a bad one.

I said the HQ was to be Bentley Village Hall, This was wrong - it will be Lower Froyle Village Hall.

I have now corrected the post above.

    Apologies for this mistake.

  • need to warm up a bit better next time as it took me ages to get going...

  • Nice evening riding, rain held off and I didn't get lost.

Rode a 26.32, which I'm fairly pleased with for my first go. I definitely held off too much on the outwards leg, I actually felt strongest in the last 1/3 so I think there's room for improvement; perhaps a bigger gear?

  • ^^ thanks for the use of your boot/hanging around afterwards ed.

  • Everything went worse than expected; was on schedule for my best time of the year on that course (still shit, but every little helps) then lost about 20s between Burchetts Green and Westacott Way roundabouts on the way back, baulked by some twat with L-plates who couldn't decide which part of the road to block. Oh well, loads more goes at this, and maybe one of them will be warm and still. Haven't got my time yet, but yet another short 25 to go with the 4 rides I've already done between 25:03 and 25:23.

  • I'm rather looking forward to getting back on the H10/2. Finished the tandem yet tester?

  • is that run as a weekly thing?

  • Finished the tandem yet tester?

Still waiting for the chainring, the rest of it is mostly done.

is that run as a weekly thing?

    Every Thursday until 25th July

  • Also Middlesex are on there every Wednesday until July 24th.

Looking ahead to the hill climb season, the length of this one looks like it's a race from the pub door to the bar:

27-Oct Sun Oxford University Cycling Club (club members only) HHC007 1 yards 11:00

  • 26.18 so 30 seconds less than last week, not quite into the 25s as I hoped, but I shall be back next week with warmer legs!

  • My report on the Ron Brown Memorial 100 can be read here:

    http://ukcyclesport.com/results/time-trial/item/8724-ron-brown-memorial-100-2013

I have a couple more pictures which I'll post shortly.
