  • Weather forecast for Farnham at 14:00 tomorrow: 24mph wind.

Given that that's exactly the speed I'd be going in still conditions on the initial drag from the start, would I actually be able to move at all if I turned up on the start line?

  • Uh-oh. The startlist is out and it appears that I've got myself a ride in the 25 mile Welsh Champs on the Neath Bank. I've never ridden this skijump course before so hope I can better my 59:23 from early season on the R25/7.

  • I need to sell my tri bike as I don't compete enough to justify and it's gathering dust whilst I could really to with the money. Thought I would ask y'all what you think she is worth and see if anyone is interested. It's a 2008 quintana roo seduza which I have owned from new, it was a gift from my parents. It's all completely stock (apart from the saddle) and in virtually mint condition as I've only ridden 5 sprint distance tri's on it. I think it was £1650 new and has a higher spec than the current model. It really is a sweet bike/attachments/54927

  • There's a bigger audience on timetriallingforum, and they don't seem to expect mates rates. You might get a grand if you mug somebody.

  • Anybody aware of a pair of bull horns that are a constant 31.8mm apart from the Pro-Lite Livenza?

I need some aero bars if you are splitting

  • Anybody aware of a pair of bull horns that are a constant 31.8mm

    Move your elbows in :-)

  • That's the problem!

    Vide:

I want to move the bars in, but where they need to clamp is where the bars change diameter.

  • But isn't the clamp 31.8? So moving your pads further in would put them in the right place to clamp

  • Can you not get shims to fit on that bit or am i making it up?

  • So your clamps are on the skinny part of the bar now? Have you considered a Profile Stoker, which has the constant diameter but without the extra frontal area of an oversized bar.

  • This is as close in as they can go when using the supplied shims to sit on the narrow diameter section of the bars:

You can just get them on the over size section, but its actually just on over the edge, and as you try to tighten them down then slide down onto the smaller diameter section:

I'm pretty disappointed in the design to be honest.

Those stoker bars would need a shim to go in my stem, no?

  • Those stoker bars would need a shim to go in my stem, no?

Or you could just get a decent stem to fit; some mug hipster will give you more than enough for that Thomson to cover a better Taiwanese forging.

  • I switched to a parts bin stem and freed up some handlebar:

However, being able to get the extensions close together for the first time I found out that they are, in fact, bent differently.

I've bought the wrong extensions, these are sub-optimal.

  • why don't you get the £15 profile airwings in the classifieds, I'll give you a spare aero brake lying around somewhere and the spare non-OS stem I've got and you stop posting photos of those hideous bars on the internet?

  • That sounds like a good idea. I've just emailed the shop I bought the extensions from about the extension shape disparity, so will see what they say.

Right, lets see if I can find those airwings in the classifieds.

  • Buy the Vision levers from JordanD or whatever he's called now.

  • I've got some spare levers hanging around.

Stem and base bar, and then (apart from the extensions being bent) I should be sorted.

  • I'm afraid I can't find any much fixed wheel interest to report from our 10, although it's worth mentioning that Pete Tadros advocates training on fixed and, especially considering he is now a veteran, has an outstanding record of TT victories.

With the wind as it was on Saturday, a howling gale blowing along the course, I believe a fast ride on fixed would have been little short of miraculous.

Anyway, I hope you find the report worth reading.

    Hounslow & District Wheelers Open 10 Mile TT – 16th June 2012.

Last Saturday Wouter Sybrandy (Sigma Sport) found time in a busy road race schedule to demonstrate his mastery of the time trial discipline by winning his original club’s open 10. Wouter last rode the event in 2010 - he also won on that occasion.

His time this year was 20 minutes 29 seconds, which was eight seconds too good for last year’s winner, Pete Tadros (In Gear – Quickvit) who recorded 20.37. It’s worth mentioning that Sybrandy had only the third fastest qualifying time and that on paper the pecking order was: first Nick Dwyer(q.time 19.19), second Tadros (19.23) and third Sybrandy (19.51).

The Hounslow did have the satisfaction of taking the team prize with Nic Stagg (21.59), Stuart Stow (22.27) and Paul Holdsworth (22.39). In addition the club’s Jill Bartlett won the ladies’ section with 26.28.

All the times reported here may look slow by modern standards, but since there was a strong south westerly wind blowing along the course, they are actually better than might have been expected. The event attracted entries from 81 solos and 3 tandems. It was held on the Farnham – Alton course and was efficiently organised by Peter Sprake.

    ** Result: **

    1. Wouter Sybrandy (Sigma Sport) 20.29
    2. Pete Tadros (In Gear – Quickvit) 20.37
    3. Nick Dwyer (Lewes Wanderers) 21.04
    4. Richard Prebble (Node4-Giordiana) 21.11
    5. Graham Stirzaker (A3 crg ) 21.17
    6. Mick St. Leger (VC St. Raphael) 21.52
    7. Nic Stagg (Hounslow) 21.59.
  • On the same afternoon, Tejvan Pettinger did 20:00 in the Hemel Hempstead event on F11/10. And finished 10th

If you're looking for a fast 10, it might be an idea to head up to Tring...

  • Tring is in my hood. I've always ignored any races under 100mi that weren't in H district. Suppose everything is an option now I have a car. Everything except a 20min 10mi that is.

  • ^Gutchings won it with a course record and PB of 18:49.

  • On the same afternoon, Tejvan Pettinger did 20:00 in the Hemel Hempstead event on F11/10. And finished 10th

Although I'm not personally looking for a fast 10, I notice that the CTT handbook does not list F11/10 and I am mildly curious to know where it is.

Had you noticed that Pettinger won the London West DC 10 the following day with 21.07 on the Maidenhead Thicket course?

It just so happens that my own p.b. 10 was done there - perhaps I should have got out more!
