That or off the TT forum.
TTforum doesn't take any notice of how many gears you have, but there's nothing to stop you putting your times in your TTforum profile too, so you can see how you do against that group. Unless anybody know different, PNut was top fixed rider last year with 19:57, 50:44 & 1:49:43 for a score of 28.9949"mph"

The closing date for entries is getting close: Tuesday 15th May. (date of event-Sunday 27th May)
This is a classic event which in the past has been won by some of the biggest names in the sport. It is on the fast Farnham – Alton course, which shouldn’t pose problems for anyone brave enough to ride fixed.
Last year’s winner was Adam Topham (High Wycombe CC) who finished in 3.38.46, putting almost three minutes into former BBAR Nik Bowdler. This was a pretty amazing performance since it was only the third 100 he had ever ridden.
There are only a few 100’s left in the CTT calendar now, and even fewer within reasonably easy reach of London, so this one is well worth thinking about. Although entries are up on this time last year it's not likely that we'll get a full field, so if you get your entry in by the 15th, you are pretty well guaranteed a ride.
If there’s anyone who still hasn’t got the CTT handbook and wants to enter, send me a p.m. and I will give you the necessary details.
An afterthought: In view of the proposed forum BAR (see above) a few of you are thinking about riding a 50. This may seem a long way to the uninitiated, but if you've already ridden a 100, even if you didn't get inside 5 hours, you'll be able to look at the 50 in a different light. You may be able to think:how fast can I go? rather than: will I be able to finish?

That's a fair point, after riding and pacing youself for a 25 a 10 feels much easier..
-
• #2155
Cool idea. Pity I so slow.
Anyone up for a forum Long BAR?
[ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_bar_in_Australia[/ame]
Or 24hr, 12hr, 100mi TTs..

• #2156
That explains a lot.

Hippy doesn't seem slow to me.
However, the saying 'every mile pays a dividend' might not apply to 24's - particularly when it comes to pure speed.
I don't believe riding a 100 will do any serious harm.

My 10mi PB is a low 24 on my road bike. People up there ^ are talking about 19s and 20s.
That's what I mean by slow. If I got a car and went to some faster courses I could bring that down a bit but that almost seems like cheating. What's the course code for your 100? It doesn't seem to be in my list so maybe I missed it?
-
• #2159
No, I lied. Cobham H100/88. It's in my list. Perhaps I should start entering some races..
-
• #2160
It's not Cobham, it's Bentley→Chawton→Farnham→Bentley, repeat until bored.
-
• #2161
Cobham is probably where I need to send the entry to.

What are the chances I could enter an event this Sunday?
http://www.lwdc.co.uk/Events/Default.aspxEntries are usually expected 2 weeks beforehand, right?
-
• #2163
That link is just a list of club events - most are enter on the line aren't they?
If it's an open, and the organiser hasn't sent out the start sheet you have a slight chance, if he has sent it - no chance.

Yes
"There is one section that feels like I imagine the Paris Roubaix feels."
No way, they are just being girls. The surface is pretty good. Of course, everything seems worse the more times you go round, I've only ever ridden the 50 on that course.

Probably too late, but phone the event secretary now, he might try to accommodate you, although I heard there was already a full field if you're talking about the Charloteville 50

The Charlotteville 50, at least, is an Open.
Start list is out and about so that's a no go..

Left a message with Alan H from High Wycombe about the 25.
No biggie, probably should be doing longer stuff anyway. -
• #2167
Are there any come and try it 25s?

That's what I mean by slow. If I got a car and went to some faster courses I could bring that down a bit but that almost seems like cheating.I'm sure you are capable of going much faster than a short 24.
I don't suppose those people above rode out to do their 19 minute 10's, so if you go out by car it wouldn't be cheating, more levelling the playing field.
In my own case, a very long time ago, my own p.b. went from 1.3.16 to 59.04, but that was going from the Amersham Road to the E72 (The A12 between Chelsford and Colchester, a classic drag strip), and I'm not sure which was really the better ride.
Following the recent discussion here about TT kit, it should be remembered that the course and the weather (drag strips need good conditions to yield good times) make more difference than equipment.

I agree, but the problem with that is getting enough rides in to match up fitness + good course + good conditions on a single day.
Since I ride out to my races I'm quite limited to courses. What I can change is fitness and kit.
Since I'm training for 24hrs and not short stuff, I'm only really changing kit.
Saying that, actually spending time on the TT bike clearly helps me. Specificity works! :)

I'm going to get an entry in for the Hounslow 100 tonight or tomorrow.
100mi ride to do a 100mi race might not be the smartest move but I'll probably be faster than the 100 I rode in my sneakers.. ;)

I'd love to give some TT a go but I've only got an audax bike at the moment. How much would I be looking at to build up a fixed TT?
-
• #2172
Just ride the audax bike.

• #2173
This ^. Get a taste of it before spending money

Just got back from my first 10m TT.
It was a 3 lap course with half going slightly uphill onto a dual carrigeway.
Did 27.37 on my road bike, had plans of converting the track bike but uphill and fixed seems like a bad idea. Is it normal to have a mini-stroke as you finish? -

Shows that you've done it right. At the end of my TT's I often struggle to walk.
Not all of us have phones that take pictures.
