But descending the bank on a new bike could lose you a lot more time.

55:01 is more likely given my current state of physical decrepitude following the Tour Transalp.

Long shot: anyone got the arm pad clamps for Vuka Alumina or compatible? Pretty sure one of the holes in mine just stripped but I'm not undoing it to find out. 4Nm motherfucker, that's what my wrench was set to and you didn't even make it.

Looks like they're the only part not sold? Of course...

Disappointing 21.04 (I think) probably went off a bit too hard, no rest on the hill as the wind was blowing straight up it. Nice to meet @xavierdisley - interested to see how Hamish went.
Thanks to @Sainsburys_Ed for the Jiffy bag, sadly it was a placebo!

Yeah, struggled today too. 21.40 for me, that headwind was a real struggle.
Punctured my front tub as well, somewhere before the final turn. Thankfully it was pretty slow and it just felt a bit understeery around the roundabout. Nearly lost it on the mini roundabout on the way back to the hq though.

Not enough of a placebo! Sorry it wasn’t a good day!

New team comp record for 25 miles set today by the Ribble chaps.
-
• #18286
It was a fast day - beat my previous distance PB by 2m25s. Bloody great big hill helped, mind you.

See you’ve been to the watt shop for one of them motors too! ;)
Nice work.
Now you can retire like me, no point riding a 25m again I’ll never get near my float pb time.
-
• #18288
That’s what I’m thinking with my 50. Faster than my 25 and very close to my 10 average speed.
-
• #18289
If only... I was 10 watts down on target and 20 watts down on power PB. So I'm now wondering if I could ever go sub-50. I mean, it's only 2m19s to find in the tank...

What is that all about? Saw some interesting hastags but didn't follow too far down the rabbit hole.

Just keep burning fuel and using aerosols. If we can global warm the fuck out of this place we'll be set for years of PBs to come...

Tin foil brigade say Bingham crew all use motors. Idiots.

Well done - was tough!
I wasn't given a time for ages after, somewhere around 20:10-20:20 and I think I was provided with 20:19 in the end (Garmin said 20:13). Bit poor for me but hopefully National 10 will be better - Hamish did 17:54 but he reckons his back brake was on (and looking at the data afterwards I suspect it was). Bit of a damp squib day!

His performance on the H25/17 was actually a tiny bit better than we had hoped. He's riding everything in a UCI legal position and setup except for the draft box on the Trek SC. Marcin has been doing comp records etc. UCI illegal so it does put Hamish up there.
We're not interested in comp records for him really, he's over here to check the effects of having spent >3 weeks at altitude (it worked) and now it's just a case of getting him sorted for world champs and all the bureaucracy that goes with it. Not allowed to ride our suits/wheels etc. so we'll just do what we can.
-
• #18296
Marcin is UCI illegal? Doesn't that kind of bust the hypothesis that he's doing this to get a contract?
-
• #18297
I read that differently he's UCI legal apart from a lunchbox, and suit and wheels!
-
• #18298
Got my forrins mixed up
-
• #18299
He's not going to suddenly turn into a 54min rider in a UCI legal position.

Gonna have a go at the Lee Valley 10 next week - does anyone know where I can get a 11sp cassette milled at short notice around London?
That would be an important distinction if you were likely to do a 45:01 :)
