  • Yeah, they should really re-word that in my opinion. It took me a while to decipher exactly what it meant.

The finish of the course is in the slip road. All riders must pass within 2.5 metres of the white line de-marking the left edge of the carriageway of the slip road.

  • Southwesterly, and it seems that reasonably windy isn’t bad, I’d need to look up the numbers from that day, but think it was about 7 or 8 mph, and it seems the fast day they had a couple of weeks ago was similar..

  • That's why I got DNF last year.

I thought it meant something more complicated than "go onto the slip road, where the course ends."

Why can't they just say "The course ends on the slip road, and you need to make sure you enter the slip road as soon as you can."

  • Because then people would enter the slip road as late as possible and claim it was "as soon as I could". #maybe

  • I can kind of see that. But that makes it sound like it's some kind of magic dual carriageway and the sliproad is made of treacle.

I think by telling people it's a massive deal they make it out to be one, and innocent victims like me and up falling foul of it.

    #prayfortommmmmmm

  • Anyone interested in a nopinz tripsuit (closed position) in medium, have a new club suit and don't need two top end suits, its from 2016 but given the pocket in good condition, cost £240 new, so £80...

  • Very interested. What size are you in rapha? I’ve gone from Large to Small.

I need to check if I’m open or closed.

  • Just PMed you, think it will fit so will take it if possible.

  • I've got a San Remo suit I need rid of. More suited to fat roadies than TTers, it's the shorts sewn to jersey combo thing in like a million XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL. Used for a single ride (that happened to be a bit over 700k... :) )

  • i'm between medium and small in rapha, i'm 173cm and 72kg and id say it was comfortable definitnely not as tight as my small velotec club suit!

  • Anyone got any tips and advice for riding the R25/3H course? I'm racing it on Sunday, and it'd be good to make the most of the trip down to South Wales.

  • go really hard to the top of the hill, you cant help but recover on the way down, the final roundabout to the turn is slow so its worth putting some extra power out there and don't be surprised about it being slow (apparently the resevoir makes the air cooler and slower?!), don't mess up the turn (worth driving round if you have time, but deffo google street view it), pray for luck at the roundabouts on the way back.

finally, enjoy the hill on the way back up, completely spent with 58/23 as your easisest gear!

  • Go hard from the start (seriously!) until the hill, then recover down the bank.
Do a google streetview beforehand of the far turn a couple of times at least - its easy to fuck it up.

  • Thanks @Sainsburys_Ed and @danb . I'll certainly try and drive the course on the Saturday, but I've planned to do that and failed in the past. I'll do some Streetviewing as a backup. I've got 58/28 for the final hill, but I'll be trying not to use it.

  • you'll need it if you've ridden hard enough, you've finished racing by then anyway so why not use it?

  • Don't throw your chain at the bottom of the hill.

  • Ah, the hill back up to the start? Sorry, I thought you were talking about the drag up to the finish.
I'll be walking back to the HQ with my buttock muscles on fire. Not a problem.

  • Well, there's another story. Do I take the tried and trusted 2x11 P2, or the haven't-actually-ridden-it-yet 1x11 P5 which is nearly but not quite finished?

  • The one that works.

  • P2 looked pretty trick at the 12.

  • Hmm, if I'm taking the P2 I'd better take the seat post mounted bottle cage off. Which means removing the saddle. It's all work here, I tell you.

    The P2 is quite nice - Di2, TriRig Omegas, Brezza bars, 808/Sub9 Zipps - but it's not a P5...

  • Do you need a hug from someone else racing on a bike built for triathletes?
