  • New record in the long distance bbar ;)

  • Agreed - although i'm sure coverage in Cycling was the huge majority of that. Problem is - in print - Cycling Weekly has no chance against the internet. What I'd love them to do is more in depth articles, interviews with riders like Adam, Richard and Pete running to a few pages with a nod to history. If more people get to know these athletes then it will inspire others to want to try.

  • Nah, don't know anything about that... :P

  • Veloflex Record 23c or GP4000sii 25c for this weekend’s sporting 25 miler?

The wheels are 23mm wide so would suit the Records better (plus a lot lower rolling resistance), but it’s gonna be a bit wet and I’m scared of punctures because Veloflex are made of butterfly wings.

  • What is your aim for the race?

  • To beat @cjr

But ultimately to get under an hour, better my course PB and finish without a puncture. Probably know what to do then.

  • I thought I posted in this thread.

    See you Sunday! Yeah

  • Right, I need more time to get my Aerocoach chain guide to sit right (it’s clipping my crank) so I have the following options-

    A) fit a front mech with my current (non nw) 53T chainring
    B) fit a 58T NW ring I have

It’s for the E1/25 this sun, average speed of around 40 kph (ideally want to break the hour) with an 11-28 at the back.

  • I’ve got a N/W 39t you can borrow

  • How much is it clipping the crank? Trim the guide?

  • That the same chaingring as i have? use that and let me know ow it goes.

I'm using a 55/42 but as i want to ride out to the event or id test the 58.

  • Inverse shim your cranks, obviously.

  • No, it’s a cheap one I picked up. I know it’s not a good idea to ride a 58T. Just need to find some curved washers for the guide.

  • use some gorilla tape or cut up some plastic as washer

  • @dbr has sorted me out with a washer so hopefully that will sort it. I'll bring the Karoo along so you can see what you are missing out on if you like. Won't actually use it though as I want to know what my average speed is!

  • Anyone want to sell me a 130bcd 42T inner for the spoco's I have lined up?

  • @xavierdisley - will the chain catcher still work if I mount it higher than the recommended 2mm? As it is, the pin on my SRAM aero ring catches the bottom of the guide. I would guess I'm not the only buyer using these rings.

  • I have DA9000 rings 55/42 rings that I bought off TTF and of course like everything else didn't use. I have crank arms to match. I'm guessing this is a little more £££ than you were looking to spend though :)

  • It just has to stop the chain moving sideways so move the chainguide up a bit or grind off that chain catcher pin.

  • Lol does it show anything! My mate returned his, wasn’t pleased about basically being a beta tester.

  • I would have thought it would be useful in stopping the chain going up high enough to get off the teeth. The teeth will stop the chain moving sideways.

  • Really for a different thread, but yeah, it does things, just needs refined. I have faith (and I'm coming from a Bryton Rider 50) which is quirky to say the least.

  • If you're using the guide, you don't need the pin.

  • Yeah, but getting it off is a faff!
