F11/10 on the 3Rd has been cancelled. Don't want to drive to Hull. How fast is the h10/8 or should I just ride the r10/17 (reasonably quick)?

Middling. My course pb is 22:31 vs. 22:05 on the F11

Just reading about Bialoblocki's 43 min 25 on twitter and it seems controversial.
Can somebody please m tell me why?

People are casting aspersions on his road positioning, basically the same accusation which got King Alf a ban back in the olden days. By riding on the right hand side of the left lane of a dual carriageway, you are close to all the motor traffic overtaking you, so you maximise the draught. With a bit of luck, your aggressive positioning also makes everybody slow down to 40mph, which when you're doing 37mph means you're in the tow for a long time. Compare a normal primary position, with traffic passing at 50, and you have reduced your differential by 10mph which is huge, and you've got at least a metre closer to the centre of the wake, which is equally huge. It's not like he hasn't been called out on it before, either, and this time a random motorist has taken the trouble to have a moan which makes it much harder to brush under the carpet. The TTF thread was 6 pages last time I looked, an hour or so ago, I bet it's at 12 now.

It's been nuked. I went looking for info on the controversy.

Thanks a lot. Truly grateful I didn't have to go to TTF for this.
I think I'd be a half decent TT'er off my power but I don't like the idea of riding on dual carriageways, let alone riding primary to get myself in the draft.

riding primary to get myself in the draft
Riding primary isn't for the draft, if anything it cuts it because if forces people to overtake properly rather than squeezing past in your lane. The accusation involved being about 6 inches to the left of the lane dividing line, which even I don't think is OK, and a strict interpretation of the CTT regulations will get you a ban for primary.

Yes, the primary position is 'slightly to the right of the left-hand tyre track'. 'The Bialobłocki Position' does have a certain ring to it.

Well, the organisers will say a complaint wasn't made to them, so they can't do anything about it, and the CTT will do their usual 3 monkeys approach, and so I doubt that there will even be any effort even to sweep it under the carpet. It'll just stay there like the elephant in the room, much like the 3cm rule did for so very, very long.

The thread is still there:

It's quite entertaining.
What's the story behind this Alf thing that one of the old timers seems to be losing his shit over?

Alf Engers rode in a similar position, for similar reasons. I wasn't there (even I'm not that old), but it seems that he got away with it when he used the technique to become the first rider under 50:00 for 25 miles, but got banned for it in a later event. Some people take hero worship to ridiculous levels; I bet there's some nutter on TTF who will fly off the handle if you suggest that Tom Simpson was a doper.

Got to love a sport where nobody really knows the rules - or whether they'll be enforced.
Reminds me of a cricket season where we had to wait a fortnight to find out if we'd been promoted.

Wasn't Alf's famous record set the same way?
-
• #16416
There was a thread started by a Keith that was removed apparently. Maybe it was merged?
-

Allegedly, yes. Is Gary Empson always such a melodramatic dick, or is it just criticism of Alf that makes him such a bed-wetting flounce artiste?
-
• #16418
I've no idea, I don't really read TTF these days, what with my Shiv gathering dust and all..

Found a workable position with the bars yet?

It could be worse than him, at least the old-school racist UKIP TTF men haven't turned up...

He gets more hilarious as the evenings go on - if he starts posting at 11:00pm you know you're on for a good one

I did wonder if alcohol was involved. Tired and emotional seemed a suitable description.

Is this a Mick Fountain machine?
-
• #16424
I'm still waiting for the replacement part to get to Chelmsford. They're not sure exactly what it will be, but apparently it's definitely not another low-stack mount.
Best case scenario it might be a whole new set of bars, then you can have the others back and sell them again!

Dunno, but the style you're thinking of was only inherited by Mick, it was built for Chris Hart
1:51 50 vs. 3:52 100
Hmm..
