Assembly paste and a torque wrench, ya?
-
• #16378
I put grip paste on the extensions, which had slipped before. This time they held firm and acted as a lever to rotate the entire handlebar assembly.
Anyway, @mdcc_tester told me I should be happy with under 2:05, and I did it in 2:04:52 despite the discomfort of riding with my bars like that, so I am happy. I'm even happier to not be riding my bike any more.
@Lukas smashed his first 50, he did a 1:56.

The bit about bank holidays is a little later down the thread.

How did you get on today, @mdcc_tester?
59:38 for me, course PB by 13 seconds. My bars rotated slightly on a join in the road about 2 miles from the Holybourne roundabout on the first lap. Not as bad as tommmmmmm's tho. Then my rear shifter decided to pop out of the extension. Manageable until the last 5 miles, after which it was a pain in the arse trying to change gear. Rubbish Planet X upward bend extensions. They have a teardrop shape to them, meaning only about two thirds of the shifter barrel is in contact with the inside of the extension. Useless bloody design.

How were the conditions on H25/8?
I had entered that event until I decided to come up and visit my parents instead.

How were the conditions on H25/8
Wind was in the wrong direction, lots of struggle up the Bentley by-pass and not much help coming back. Nobody got under 50:00, which counts as a slow day these days.
I rode 87" on my fixie skidder, which was right enough of the time to convince me that it was the right choice over the 81" option.

I rode out to the diss cc 25 mile tt today 100 miles total i did not win. Genetics are against me and i dont train for TT's. I did ride the tt though as quickly as i would have if i had driven though and had alot more fun. The cows on the way back did not respond to my moos. They looked at me like i was a weirdo.

The chart in the apendix has on one row my 10, 25 12hr results. Uncanny.

1.5l when you wake up, 750ml on the start line and two Iso gels in the race.
Needing a piss after 15min >>>

I didn't drive at all and raced for 12 days...

Managed 5hrs into my 12. Makes you pedal faster.

Cheers mate, it's a cool bike, I was positive I did a long 53, how they gave me a short 55 I'll never know!

For me it's a distraction.

BDCA 100? https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/15834
I feel like I should use the £££ of quid worth of carbon hanging up in my flat for something. Not sure I'll have the motivation or training to beat my PB though since that course is unlikely to be faster than the E2/100C, right?
-
• #16396
Maybe I should just commute on the Shiv to get my money out of it... seems easier.
-
• #16397
Tuck it into your waistband
-
• #16398
It's as fast as the E2.
-
• #16399
Really? I raced a 50 there and PBd but it didn't seem fast. The E2 seems fast.
Is it the comp record course still? -
• #16400
It was until Duggelby rode the E2 this year. BDCA didn't run last year. Two laps of the comp record 50 course basically.
I've got to keep it long until I've found a set of bars I don't want to set fire to and throw in a river
