Ah no problem then, yep they're 700c and just going spare atm. Hope it's got it sorted.

Just nabbed a few - my corsa speeds have worn pretty quickly so giving these a try.

Throwing away watts there.

Anyone had any experiences with the turbo cotton clinchers ? They're quite a fast tyre but just worried if they will have any puncture protection
-
• #16182
Hah, I have raced on them (crits and RR's that is) for about a year. Finally getting to the end of their life, but for 11 months I didn't get a single puncture, but 3 on the rear in the last month so it's being replaced. Lovely and supple for cornering, but not much experience going in a straight line for miles on end.
-
• #16183
Yeah, but the Corsa Speed puncture resistance has been non-existent, for me anyway. DNF'd three times this year already.
-
• #16184
Awesome. Will get a pair later. Do they size up big like conti tyres? Don't have much clearance on my TT bike
-
• #16185
Cheers will have a look
-
• #16186
Yes, but not as much conti's.
-
• #16187
I use them on my road bike. Their CdA isn't meant to be great- Corsa Speed or Conti Supersonic likely to be faster.
-
• #16188
Hmm, I have about 500 race miles on mine so far and touch wood it's been fine.
What pressure, out of interest?
-
• #16189
125psi, give or take. All in the dry, although technically I didn't DNF the last one as it was 500m from the end so I just rolled through, albeit rather comically!

Any recommendations for allen bolt skewers (or similar)?
-
• #16191
Halo ones are decent and cheap. Better made and more reliable than the overpriced Zipp/FFWD which look suspiciously like rebadged Trans-X/System EX ones. Less frontal area than those on the threaded end, too.
I bet Andy will recommend Viewspeed (if you have the money). -

if you have the money
If you have a teammate who regularly travels to the US so you save on postage and duty!
They're nice, but a measurable difference to a £5 halo allen skewer? Unlikely...

Should tripsocks go on the outside of overshoes (velotoze) or inside..?
Personally didn't like turbo cottons, felt slow and did not inspire confidence in corners.
-
• #16194
outside.
-
• #16195
Absolutely outside. @xavierdisley blacklists anyone who tucks them in.
-
• #16196
Why would you tuck the trips into the overshoes? Defeats the point of having trips...
-
• #16197
Yeah had a look and you're probably right. Will opt for the supersonics
-
• #16199
Had a play around with : http://www.cyclingpowerlab.com/TyreSelection.aspx and the corsa speed TLR is significantly faster (roughly 30 seconds both with a butyl tube), with the supersonic actually slower than the turbo cotton. The model uses drum data for crr and uses tyre profile to estimate cDa so seems sound enough, although I guess the cda of the tyre depends on wheel width I guess

I guess the cda of the tyre depends on wheel width
And tread pattern.
If they're 700c tyres then they won't fit @Cyciste's bike, as it's 650C, and when it comes to tubs I'm a Vittoria fanboi. Corsa Speeds all the way for me.
